PreSonus Central Station Studio Control Center Review

Prior to buying this box, I had my DAW's analog output directly connected to my studio monitors and used an old stereo receiver as a headphone amp. I would not have expected the Central Station to make such a huge difference to my way of working but it's been incredibly convenient to be able to control the system volume with a real knob, switch between studio monitors and a cheap boombox and to have the built-in headphone amp with plenty of volume. I can't explain why but being able to run my sound card (Digital Audio Labs CardDeluxe) at full output has made my mixes come out better in the form of crisper sound and better separation of instruments. Next step is to hook up the DAW's digital output to the CS so that I can have a custom headphone mix and leave it up during the tracking process without disrupting whatever mix decisions I've made. This box did exactly what I needed and helped me streamline my workflow without degrading my audio quality.

The Central Station is the ultimate studio-monitoring interface for the modern digital studio. The Central Station features three sets of stereo analog inputs to switch between input sources such as: DAW, mixer, CD/DAT/Tape player, or keyboards/samplers. Two stereo analog inputs feature TRS balanced and the third stereo input features RCA inputs with trim control for level matching of input signals. In addition, the Central Station will accommodate two digital inputs via S/PDIF or ADAT lightpipe providing D/A conversion up to 24Bit/192kHz. This allows you to monitor DAW and CD/DAT outputs through the same professional quality converter for the most accurate A/B comparison and highest quality monitoring environment. The digital to analog converter offers the highest possible audio quality with over 117dB dynamic range and ultra high quality analog circuitry. The Central Station features three sets of monitor outputs, each with their own set of passive trim controls. The monitoring section also provides MUTE, DIM and MONO switches. In addition, the Central Station includes a set of CUE outputs that can feed headphone amplifiers and a separate stereo MAIN line level output.

Randall RX120RHS Combo Amp Review

without a doubt the best solid state half stack under 500$ i've ever heard. used to play on a Marshall that costed twice as much and had half the clarity on the clean and crunch on the overdrive. i would HIGHLY recommend to any guitarist on a budget who needs to keep up with a very loud metal or rock drummer to pick this bad boy up.

RX SeriesCHANGING THE PERCEPTION OF THE PRACTICE AMP Huge sound on a budget is the best way to describe the newly redesigned RX Series. Our mission to deliver an amp line that achieves the tone of much larger combos and stacks has developed into quite a powerhouse. The RX tone circuits are designed to achieve the modern Randall tone which delivers plenty of tight low's, as well as enough top end sizzle to satisfy any metal monster. The result is an overwhelming sound that will redefine the modern practice amp.

SKB Mini Gig Rig Review

I expected this to stack on my current roto shockmount SKB rack OK. I was mistaken. This thing is much bigger than the roto shockmount. Looks like I'm going to have to buy the roto roller in order to stack this safely on another rack. Still, it is a decent rack. It's a little heavier than I would have liked but that's OK. I'm not gonna be a wimp about it. It could be worse. In the end, I think it's a decent rack for my purposes which are to rack my mobile recording gear. Adding the roto roller to this will provide just enough rack spaces and the two pieces make this workable as far as weight. It's a keeper for me.

Line 6 Spider IV 120 120-watt 2x10 Modeling Guitar Amplifier Review

I cannot begin to say what a pleasure this amp is to play. The clean sound is what I play primarily and thus, the 4 star rating. It sounds great clean yet the fiddling around with the menu to get presets that are suitable for jazz and the like take time. No big deal with time issues if you're one well versed with digital menus. For dudes like me (perhaps many) this is a fine piece of workmanship with the built in tuner and all, but I just want to turn on the tube sounding warmth of an old TWIN or VOX and play mellow. Again, if one is inclined, mellow sounds will come out of this superlative amp and I am only thinking of selling mine because I just need less power and less menu stuff.
Like amateur radio, many of the new gear out is menu driven versus simplicity. I am hardly one who does not like to tinker, but when tinkering is all one is doing an playing your instrument takes second seat, there is a slight problem. So, this is based on my ineptitude rather than the amplifier's capabilities and build.
A four out of five is very good given my admission to menu driven gear as a weakness on my part.
You'll love it if you love reading manuals or have much time to tinker. Overall, the amp is superb. PERIOD.
