Godin Summit CT - Sunburst Flame 6-string Electric Guitar Review

Godin Summit CT - Sunburst Flame 6-string Electric Guitar

I've had a Summit for a little over a year now and I love this guitar. It's super powerful and gets great full, rich tones all along the fretboard. It's also surprisingly versatile for such a heavy guitar; with the HDR off the neck pickup can get an almost Fendery, open tone, but the bridge pickup with HDR on just screams. I've had a number of producers and engineers compliment this guitar and tell me how surprised they are by how great it sounds. While recording last year I even passed over an old Les Paul to use the Godin instead! It also plays better than a lot of Pauls, having a thinner body and much friendlier neck profile. Highly recommended.

This rockin' behemoth is the newest member of the Signature series and with its 24 3/4 inch scale, carved high flame maple top, solid mahogany body, Godin High Definition Revoicer and Seymour Duncan 59 & Alnico 2 humbuckers, this guitar will bring the house down! The H.D.R. revoices and augments the frequency range of each pickup and allows the player to go from passive to active pickups with the simple push of a button. The H.D.R. provides extra bite, dynamic response and redefines the character of each pickup. It's like having 2 sets of pickups in 1 guitar for 5 pure passive tones + 5 pure active tones.

Godin LGXT Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Trans Blue AAA) Review

Godin LGXT Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Trans Blue AAA)
Average Reviews:

The Guitar is very playable and worked well with my VG99 systems (once you set up the VG99 to handle the guitar) Functionaly I had no complaints.
My complaints are with the appearance of the guitar. I purchased a LGXT AAA in Transparent Blue and It looked nothing like the Pictures. The coloring was very dark (hardly "transparent") and the wood grain was not visible in standard room lighting (under direct sunlight it was visible but I tend to play in darker bar environments). I was very disappointed.
When you purchase a guitar of this Grade you have expectations and this time I was let down. It looked nothing like the pictures from the website or the owners manual. Heck the serial number even looked like it had been re-stamped to include the "AAA"
Next time I need to see the guitar before I buy. Not gunna use Amazon for this type of purchase again.
Sean

Taylor Guitars NS34-CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar Review

Taylor Guitars NS34-CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar
Average Reviews:

The thing to remember about this guitar is that it is a hybrid- somewhere between a nylon classical and a steel string acoustic, plus it has to perform well when electrified. That's asking a lot, but it does live up to most expectations. Do not buy this guitar if you are looking for a true classical guitar sound. This is an instrument ideally suited for someone who does a lot of recording or live performance work, as it truly shines when the pickup is activated. I strongly recommend ditching the extra hard tension strings it comes with, and switch to hard or normal tension. It will sound better and have superior intonation. I found the guitar virtually untunable until I switched to hard tension. The finish and body work are exceptional, however the gearheads could be a bit better. If you are undecided between an NS32ce and the NS34ce, go with the 34 if you want a fuller sound with more low end. This is due to the 34 having a Grand Auditorium body versus the 32's Grand Concert. To me the 32 model was thin and missing something. I think the main negative aspect about this guitar is that when playing beyond the 10th fret unamplified, the result is a bit dull and thin. Above the 10th is absolute heaven.

This Grand Auditorium boasts increased volume, sustain, and bass frequencies while maintaining all the tonal subtlety and pristine treble response of the smaller-bodied NS32ce.

Godin LGXT Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Black Pearl) Review

Godin LGXT Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Black Pearl)

I got my LGX-SA about 4 years ago and it has been an awesome guitar. The best part about it is people seeing it and going: "what is that?" They play it and go: "wow, how come i've never heard of this brand?" The guitar looks beautiful and plays great. It plays way different than a Gibson or Fender. I would relate it to a PRS or Parker. Some say its a little harder to play than a Gibson, but once you get use to it, it becomes very comfortable. The acoustic pic up sounds pretty good. I wouldnt say its the best pic up out there, but its nice to have on the guitar and is highly adjustable. You can get a pretty good sound out of it depending on what amp you are using.
My guitar has the custom seymour duncans on them. You can get a really nice clean sound out of them, but if you want a heavier sound you can get pretty strong EMG type sound as well. Very versatile pick ups.
The only thing I dont like about this guitar is the weight. Its pretty heavy and if you dont have a little muscle on your shoulder you may get tired after a while.
I have never used the synth on this guitar. I didnt buy it for the synth, I bought it for the overall quality and beauty. I will however try it out once I can afford the stupid Roland thing that costs an arm and a leg.

Godin XTSA Solid Body 3-Voice Electric Guitar (Light Burst) Review

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have owned, and still do own, many high end guitars (Gibson / USA Fender / USA Jackson) etc. but since purchasing this this Godin xtsa, it has become my main 'go to' axe.
I purchased it for it's synth access (which it excels at) but combined with it's acoustic piezo output abilities and it's great overall electric sound, it is so versatile that it is hard to pick anything else up!
I love the overall feel and vibe of this guitar, kinda a cross between a Strat and Les Paul, but it works for me!
I got mine used and it was already well cared for and set up by a semi pro player.
It has an easy playing action and hangs well for playing on stage.
Godin states that this guitar is "a jack of all trades and master of all of them" and they are pretty much right on!
I only wish Godin would come out with a 24 fret guitar in the future, I would be all over that.
The only problem with Godin is that you may have to mail order the guitar, if you can find a dealer that has some in stock then try them out and you may be lucky enough to be able to 'cherry pick' your top, mine has the bonus of a nicely flamed top.
