(More customer reviews)Just a warning--this instrument ships from Amazon, but in the same condition in which it leaves the factory in China, meaning you will have to set up and regulate the floating bridge. If you're already familiar with this type of instrument, it shouldn't be too hard, but if you're a complete stranger to the process, it could be difficult. My only musical experience is with harps and pianos, and even though I tried really hard, I just couldn't get the bridge set right to hold a consistent pitch. I had to take the bouzouki to my local guitar shop and pay them to set it up and regulate the tuning. A learning experience for me! (The guy at the shop told me they put several of the strings on backwards at the factory---that could have been part of my problem!)
That being said, it is a gorgeous instrument and it sounds absolutely beautiful. It's holding it's tune really well and has a bright full tone. There are lots of different chord methods and playing styles, so you can play and accompany all kinds of music. It sounds great in a duet with a Celtic Harp.
There on online specialty music stores that carry this instrument and include the bridge set up and inspection in the purchase price, so that the instrument arrives ready to play. Novices like me would be better off purchasing through one these stores.
ONE OTHER WARNING--there is no warranty whatsoever enclosed with the instrument, so I'm assuming the manufacturer does not issue warranties. That might be another reason to purchase this instrument through an online music store that offers its own warranty on any instrument they sell.
