(More customer reviews)This guitar sounds the best of any of the electric girl guitars I have purchased so far. It is very lightweight so it doesn't tire you out to hold it and play it. I just got mine yesterday and have already put in four hours of playing time. Men and women alike love this guitar. Experienced players love the bigsby roller saddle. Everyohne loves the color which is really more of an aqua. One of my co-workers said it was so beautiful it gave her the shivers. This is a guitar to fall in love with. I can barely put it down.

Washburn HB Series HB15TSK Electric Guitar Review

A lot of people will slag on this guitar just because it's a Washburn. While I don't like Washburn guitars that much, I a huge fan of this particular model. It has the look I wanted, plus the sound is thick and warm. It really does sound a lot like those 1920s-1930s "floating pickup" guitars that it is modelled after. The thick neck feels real good in your hands.
There are three different versiosn of this guitar. There's another HB-15 that has the volume and tone knobs on the body itself, and then there's an HB-15 with a single cutaway. Personally, I REALLY wanted the knobs on the pickguard, so that's what I bought. The tabacco burst is cool looking.
I sanded my guitar's neck and body. The neck's so smooth and the guitar looks older, as if it may actually be from the 1930s. The only other alteration I made was moving the strap peg to the neck. Most guitar snobs I know (and we all know a couple) are surprised to hear that this jazz-box is a Washburn. A comporable guitar will run you $600!
The only downsides I've had with my HB-15 is a little buzzing around the fifth fret. I had the fret filed by a luthier (about $10) and haven't had any more buzz since. Oh, it does pay to keep the bridge around the same area, because it can set the intonation off.
Washburn's HB-15 is a GREAT guitar for looks, sound, playability, and affordability.

Epiphone Sheraton II Archtop Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst Review

(More customer reviews)This is the second Epiphone guitar I've owned. The first was a hollowbody Casino (Casinos are often mistaken for semi-hollowbody) and the Sheraton is my second.
How do they compare? While the Casino is more jangly, its full hollowbody and P90 pickups means that it is prone to feedback, even at moderate volumes, so you really need to pay attention to where you're standing in relation to speakers. The Sheraton doesn't have these problems. The Casino was lighter...
Both of these guitars are great. However, I prefer my Sheraton. I bought a used one for $400. The original owner had changed the tuners and the pots. The guitar now looks more like a Sheraton Elitist, which are something like $1,300, if I'm not mistaken. The original humbuckers are pretty good. They deliver a wide tonal range that, while not as bright as the Casino's twin P90s, do not have the tendency to feedback or get piercing.
The gutiar looks great too! I have a sunburst, lighter than a typical sunburst. Its more like a honeyburst. The body is bound, the neck has two running lines going down the back. The fret markers are the best, though; pearloid 1935 "V" cut. Check those out! The headstock logo's real sharp too. For looks, the only thing lacking on the Sheraton is the tailpiece. That's almost purley cosmetic though, but I wish the Sheraton had the Casino or, preferably, the Riviera/ Emperor tailpeice.
My used Sheraton needed a good set-up. That set me back about $70, but was worth it. So, I got this guitar, set-up, plus a beaten-up case for $509 (that's after shipping expenses too). You'd be hard pressed to find a better guitar at $500. Go to a store and play a Sheraton if you don't believe me!

Washburn HB Series HB15CTSK Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)This is a fantastic archtop guitar, and at a very reasonable price. Set-up is great right out of the box. It isn't fancy, but the fretwork is MUCH better than I've seen on other guitars in this price range. The bridge is fitted almost perfectly. Fit and finish is better than I've seen on Epiphones costing twice as much. Acoustically, it is quite loud, with good mellow tone. Plugged in, you have the same sound, but louder. The floating pickup works great for amplified acoustic jazzy sounds. And NO feedback! I turned it up quite loud and nary a squeal. If you're after a twangy electric sound, though, this guitar is probably not for you. The gig bag is okay, but I will be getting a hard case. My only other complaint is that the nut is on the narrow side, about 1 21/32 inches, more like a chunky Strat neck than a Gibson. I'm not sure this is a problem; the more I play it, the more I like it. I've owned and sold six other archtop guitars, but this one is a keeper!

Johnson Delta Rose Archtop Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I just bought the Delta Rose. I was too influenced by other reviews. You get what you pay for, and this guitar is equal to the price. It doesn't have the versatility it is reputed to have. It is ok for light jazz or blues, with a clean setting. The guitar is well put together. The top is a laminate, something to be expected in this price range. It is supposedly maple and spruce. It sounds more like mahogany than maple. Not very bright in sound. The neck is comfortable, but the action is a little high. Nothing that can't be adjusted easily. I am definitely replacing the EMG designed pickups. The three position switch is functional, but the neck pickup output is sub par. Finish on the guitar is good. You have to look very close to find the places that could have used more buffing before the final finish was applied. If I had heard this guitar before purchase, I wouldn't have bought it. But that is the chance you take buying mail order. The bottom line, I got what I paid for.

Silvertone Blues Master Electric Guitar, Transparent Red Review

(More customer reviews)I'm fairly new to guitar playing, but I've owned several already, and this is by far the best I've invested in. It's easy on the eyes with it's beautiful color and finish, and overall just a gorgeous guitar. It has a slim profile which isn't expected but quite nice as it's not as heavy as other guitars. I've read that the red finish varies from guitar to guitar, but on mine, you can clearly see the wood grain through the finish and it's beautiful. Silvertone has a reputation for quality and this particular guitar has a lifetime limited warranty. It's very reasonably priced for this quality of guitar. I found it difficult to find a used one for sale, so that must be a testament to it's appeal as people just aren't getting rid of them. The sound is amazing. Seriously, I've had several electric guitars prior to this, and the moment I plugged it in, the difference in sound was undeniable and amazing. The best way I can describe the sound is deep, mellow and soulful. It produces great sound no matter what you do with it. The humbuckers are decent as well, and it turns out they're interchangeable with Gibsons, etc. Overall, a great guitar.

Epiphone Lefty Sheraton II Archtop Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst Review

A few weeks ago, I sold my Fender American Deluxe Strat. I wanted to replace it with something a little newer with a similar style. My other guitar is an Epiphone LP Standard with a gritty tone and great sustain that spends most of its time in Drop-C, so this guitar will mainly stay in standard/Drop-D tuning. My musical styles range from contemporary Christian/worship (Hillsong, Tomlin, etc.) to hardcore/metal (A7X, Atreyu, As I Lay Dying), so my guitars need to be diverse in their playstyles.
When I first got the guitar home, I noticed it was much taller than my Epi Standard. I had read online that it was heavy compared with guitars of a similar composition, but I'm used to solid-bodies, so it was actually very light despite the greater length. Reviews I've read say that it would be heavy to hold for a performance, but I disagree. If you're used to a solid body, it's very light and comfortable.
But I know that what everyone cares about is playability, so here goes. The first thing I noticed is the clean, beautiful tone that it produces even when unplugged. It's not a replacement for an acoustic by any means, but it's definitely worthy of being played unplugged for practice. Amped with clean settings, it has a very warm tone and produces a stronger output than either my Epi or the Fender with Noiseless pickups.
As for distorted/metal settings, it still has a strong, thick tone, thanks largely to the dual humbuckers which I find to be entirely adequate for all playstyles. It doesn't have great resonance and pinch harmonics are very finicky (read: difficult) with it, but it has good sustain for a semi-hollow body, and is definitely playable for a heavier style of music.
Overall, I have no complaints about this guitar. The strap attaches on the back of the body, which I'm not used to, but is comfortable after a minute or two of adjusting. For the money, this guitar absolutely shines, and for lefties, it's one of the few well-priced, well-equipped machines out there.
