Denon DJ DN-S5000 Table Top Single CD Player Review

Denon DJ DN-S5000 Table Top Single CD Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a DJ with 23 years' experience, who worked for Denon as a "Certified Denon DJ" and beta tester (2004-'05), and for Guitar Center as a Pro Audio salesperson (2005). I can say with certainty, the best (and for me, only) CD player options available to long-time DJs who expect their equipment to withstand the rigors of the club and of the road, are the Pioneer and Denon. I use Denon exclusively, as I have for years.
The difference between Pioneer and Denon offerings is perhaps the difference between Mercedes and Rolls Royce. Pioneer, already somewhat the industry standard, has forged ahead and made amazing contributions to the world of VDJs, with their incredible new mixers and their DVJ-X1 DVD decks. Its advantage over Denon is the removable chip that stores cue points for particular CDs; since quite a few clubs have these decks already, all you need is the chip and your music, and you're good to go.
But Denon's R&D department has continually scored coups with their players, beginning with this, the flagship DN-S5000, with its incredibly responsive belt-driven spinning platter (world's first) and its junior, the DN-S3000. It also has on-board effects--brake, dump (to backward mask profanity on the fly), and reverse. It also allows one to plays two tracks from the same disc AT THE SAME TIME (or mix back and forth between them); and with the hot disc feature, one can eject a disc while the song keeps playing, replace the disc for another, and fade into a track from the new disc.
Denon reproduces much of the look and all of the feel of vinyl turntables, and the ability for each model to store up to 1000 individual memo points, which can be communicated to another Denon player when linked, is another feature that embraces the Digital Age and distinguishes them from the competition. Free software are posted on the website, when available. Unquestionably, Denon also has the best 1-yr service warranty.

Marshall MG250 DFX Stereo Combo Amplifier Review

Marshall MG250 DFX Stereo Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this amp at a bargain price and thought that I may resell it. I'm very fussy about amps as all I've had until the last year or so were pre CBS Fenders. A Princeton Reverb, A Deluxe Reverb and a Twin Reverb with EV SRO speakers. Well, this Marshall can't be a Fender vintage tube amp but it is a really decent amp. And the cost of tube amps is nuts. I decided to keep this amp. It has some nice clean sounds, which is what I'm after. I also use a Fender solid state and I find that these amps sound pretty good. Not like the solid state amps of the 60s. Standell solid states or the Silvertone 6 x 10"? :

Line 6 Spider Valve 212 Review

Line 6 Spider Valve 212
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing guitar for about 16 years, but I'll admit I know next to nothing about amps. I know what are generally considered to be good amps (Bogner, Marshall, Mesa/Boogie, etc.), but I couldn't look at the specs on an amp and tell you if it was any good.
After a little research, I came to the conclusion that I wanted a tube combo amp, something suitable for gigging or for practicing in the bedroom, that would give me a good variety of tones. (I like to play a wide range of music, from classic rock to metal and fusion, and bands I play with usually do covers.) I went down to Guitar Center with this in mind, and one of the salespeople pointed me to the Line 6 Spider Valve 212.
I plugged in an Ernie Ball Music Man JP6 (the same guitar I have at home) and immediately fell in love with the tone. You can see the specs for this amp a little farther up on the page, so I'll just talk about what matters: this amp sounds great. Plug in a good guitar with some good pickups, and you can dial in pretty much any tone you're after. Crank it up loud, and the tube power really shines. More than a dozen amp models (two choices for each individual setting on the dial) give you a wide variety of possible sounds. You'll likely hit on one or two models that you prefer, but even within a single setting you can dial in an impressive variety of tones.
I wasn't thrilled with the clean setting, but all I had to do get the clean sound I was after was to turn down the gain on the crunch setting, add a tiny bit of tape delay and some reverb, and there it was: my perfect clean tone. I've settled on the metal modeler (amber LED) for most of my high-gain tones, but I've only had it for about a week. I'm sure I'll find all kinds of great tones on different settings.
The one complaint I have about this amp is about the effects. They are limited, as you might expect with onboard effects, but the modulation effects in particular are practically unusable. The chorus and flanger are combined on the same dial for some reason, but all I really hear when I turn it on is a flanger, which is far too overpowering besides not being tweakable. A shame, since chorus is the only modulation effect I regularly use. The phaser and tremolo are okay, but I rarely use either and haven't experimented with them. The delay, on the other hand, is very usable, and I'm glad it got its own dial with three different flavors. The tap button for setting the tempo is essential and makes the onboard delay all most guitarists will need. The reverb is decent but a little overpowering at anywhere past about 11:00 on the dial.
Some other cool things about this amp include a built-in noise gate (just hold the tap button while turning the reverb dial past noon to activate it), distortion boost (hold the tap button while turning the drive dial past noon), and a tuner (hold the tap button in until the preset indicator switches to tuner mode). You can also save all your favorite settings as presets, easily navigable with a Line 6 FBV Express or Shortboard foot switch. (I strongly recommend spending the extra $100 on an FBV Express, though $230 for a Shortboard seems a little steep.)
(A quick side not about presets: the amp comes with 400+ presets, including 9 user-programmable banks with 4 patches each, totaling 36 programmable channels. You can't overwrite any of the artist or song presets. The presets are mostly decent at best, but they're a good starting point for tweaking. The amp does include a port for a PODxt, which you can also control with your FBV foot switch, and though I've never used one I'm sure it has plenty of programmable patches, so you aren't exactly limited to the amp's channels or presets.)
All in all, this amp sounds great with a huge variety of possible tones and options that will suit the needs of most guitarists playing in cover bands or just having fun at home. No, it can't compete with a Mesa Dual Rectifier half stack, but for a tube combo amp at well under $1,000, it can't be beat. Did I mention how loud this thing gets? I haven't been able to crank it past 10:00 on the master volume yet. I can't imagine anyone would ever need to go past 1:00, even at gigs. It's a seriously loud 40 watts.

Gibson LES PAUL STD 50'S NECK Review

Gibson LES PAUL STD 50'S NECK
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was undecided between a Fender and a Gibson Les Paul. I checked out U-tube reviews and sounds and took the leap of faith and purchased the 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard with 50's neck. WOW. Say it with me now... WOW. Absolutely beautiful fit and finish on this guitar. This is the type of guitar that you pass down to your children. It has a very throaty voice unlike the Fenders. Fenders were very twangy to me and that's fine if you like that sort of sound. Not for me. The guitar has a very ballsy/throaty/blues-rock sound to it. I have it paired with a Line 6 75 watt amp. They are a very good pairing. You'll love this amp as well. It provide hundreds of different sounds at the touch of several buttons. However, lets get back to this guitar. I know it's a lot of money, but you will not be disappointed. Holds it tune, and is a bit lighter as well. This is the type of instruments that you have a hard time putting down since it sounds soooo good.

Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee Double Humbucker Tremolo - Black All Rosewood Neck Black Pickguard Review

Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee Double Humbucker Tremolo - Black All Rosewood Neck Black Pickguard
Average Reviews:

Awesome awesome guitar. I can't say that enough. The rosewood neck is so beautiful. I get compliments on a regular basis on the look and sound of this guitar. It's earthy to my ears. A little on the darker side due to the mahogany body and rosewood neck. I play jazz, rock and fusion on it and it sounds awesome for each. The neck has a smaller profile which is great for my hands. I prefer the feel of it to my Les Paul or any of my other guitars really. I'm definitely a Music Man convert. My next purchase will be an MM Silhouette Special. Excellent build quality and attention to detail. Beautifully polished frets with no sharp edges whatsoever. Very low action right out of the box. No buyer's remorse here.

Line 6 Spider Valve HD100 Review

Line 6 Spider Valve HD100
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This sucker sounds really great. And it's true what they say about tube amps. You aren't really hearing it unless you crank it. I cranked it, and it was the greatest thing I've ever heard (I played a metal chord, then turned it from super loud to very low, and I could progressively hear the tone go from amazingly thick and rich, to crackly and thin. so only buy this if you plan on playing it LOUD). Put it on the Metal or Insane settings, and it's just nuts. However, it broke the next day, so I had to send it off for repair to a "local" service center (where Line 6 made me pay 30 bucks to ship. thanks L6). It's been over a month and they finally got around to checking it out. They told me the tubes were faulty. So great. Now they say another 2 weeks to order new tubes and test to see if there are any other problems. Nice work, Line 6. BTW, my POD X3's headphone jack only outputs a MONO signal now. How great is that? Talk about quality! (the presets suck too btw. no one uses those. and you can't customize them like you can on the POD X3, but thankfully, you don't need them. the main channel knob has all you need!!)
Other than that, this amp sounds AMAZING. A shame about the faulty tubes in my unit, but I hope when I get it back, it will last longer than a few minutes of it cranked. And no, not crazy cranked, just normal cranked.
The matching cab sounds amazing btw.

Replacement Strat Parts Kit Black Review

Replacement Strat Parts Kit Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this set to finish a guitar that I am building from scratch. At first glance, it looks like a great deal. I ordered this kit and immediately contacted the vendor (WD Music) with a question. I asked if the pickguard, trem cover, knobs, etc. were black and if they were not could they sub black. The response I got was that no, they are white and that if I had wanted them black, I should have called in the order and that it was too late now to do anything.
5 days later the box arrived at my door. It was very well packed and complete with all the parts described. The pickguard was pre-wired and ready to go. There were not any instruction sheets what-so-ever. I have to say that I was less than pleased with the quality of the items. The tuners are very cheap Kluson Delux machines with plastic knobs. The pickguard is a white-black-white and is of decent quality. Pickups are Kent Armstrong, and the jury's still out on those. Cord jack and strap buttons are low quality and a dingy satin black finish. The tremolo is also the same dingy satin black and seems to be low to medium quality. The "extra parts" are lowest-of-low quality and include 2 screwdrivers a super cheap string winder, strings, polishing cloth and cord.
In all, for half the price it would be an ok set, for $250, it's not.

The best Filter Pedal in the world. I have tried every filter Pedal out there and this is the most musical useable sounds and the most user freindly filter on the market. You can dial in any / Wah / or funk sound you could possibly want. Cheap price considering its potential. My five year search for the right filter is finally over for now. Now I am curious about The Subdecay DLX Pedal. If you are in doubt check out their demo on youtube. What you see is what you get. I know some video demos fabricate the sounds of effects units to put out more than they actually can without using enhancement computer software. But this pedal can deliver the same smooth wah and filter sounds that they show off the Prometheus on the Subdecay website or on Youtube. If you are looking for Totally Spaced Out Sound effects and Bizarre Filter sounds don't buy this Pedal. But if you are looking for a Filter sounding pedal that is pleasing and very smooth and musical then this is your pedal. Operates with a single 9 volt battery or standard 9 volt adapter. All that and it has some "hidden features" as well.* The LFO rate can be adjusted to run much faster than the the step rate. This can be used to create very interesting arpeggiation.* The Depth knob can push the filter cutoff frequency outside of the audio range. This can be useful to create a slow attack effect.* The step rate can be turned up high enough for smooth modulation. This can be used to create and autofilter effect, that can sound similar to a phaser or tremolo.* A fixed filter effect is possible by turning the depth knob down all the way, and using the Frequency knob to set the filter cutoff.Item WarrantyThe Prometheus is hand made in Newberg Oregon with high quality components.Die cast aluminum enclosures for durability.3PDT switches for true bypass switching.Runs for many hours on a single 9 volt battery, or can be powered by a 9VDC adapter.Blue LED indicator.

I bought one of these guitars a few days ago, and man can it shred. It works great with line six and boss stuff, but I will probably drop some dimebucker or EMG pickups in it to get better pinch harmonics. Although it dosn't have any inlay, it dosn't affect your playing(exelent playabillity). If you want a good deal, and you want that dean style , I suggest a closer look at this one.(you might want a hard case if you intend to travel)WELL WORTH THE MONEY! This amp sounds incredible. Sparkling cleans and it can get downright dirty. The Tweed is a great touch. 4x10 inch speakers=plenty of volume.
I was also surprised by how light the amp was, it's not as heavy as other tube amps that I own so that is a major plus. This pedal also sounds great with any pedals you put in in front of it. I highly recommend this amp.

The '50s Fender® Bassman® was the pro bassist's answer to amplifying a great new invention: the Fender® Precision Bass® guitar. This powerful 50-watt rig could easily compete with the common instrumentation of the day: horns, piano, four-piece drum kit with calfskin heads, and maybe even an electric guitar through a nice, new 10-watt amp! By the '60s and '70s, the original all-tube "Tweed" 4x10 Bassman® was popular with rock, country and blues guitarists as a reliably great-sounding and easy-to-use guitar amp. Even some emerging British amp designers of the day copied its circuitry for use in their most celebrated designs. In the '90s, Fender® released an affordable reissue of the now-collectible '59 Bassman® amplifier to massive acclaim. Many guitarists, tired of experimenting with preamps, equalizers, and effects racks, rediscovered the simple pleasure of plugging into a Fender® tube amp. The Bassman's® wide stage coverage, touch-sensitive dynamics and full-frequency "swirl" make it the perfect vehicle for building a great tone with almost any guitar or effect. The reissue Bassman® continues to be a staple of the Fender® guitar amp line to this day.ElectronicsChannels :Two Channels (Normal and Bright)Controls :Presence, Middle, Bass, Treble, Volume (Bright Channel), Volume (Normal Channel)Inputs :4 Inputs (2 per Channel)Rectifier :5AR4 Rectifier TubeSpeakersSpeaker Impedance :2 OhmsSpeaker :4-10" Jensen® P-10R, 8 ohm Speakers with Alnico MagnetsSpecificationsAmplifier Height :22.37" (56.81 cm)Amplifier Length :10.5" (26.7 cm)Amplifier Weight :53 lbs (24 kg)Amplifier Width :23.5" (59.7 cm)Power Handling :45 watts into 2 ohmsTubesPower Tubes :2 x 6L6Preamp Tubes :3 x 12AX7

I purchased a Takamine EAN10C from guitar center in San Diego 5 years ago and I will NEVER sell it... Out of every guitar in the place, this one was the one and only... Sounded better than all of the Gibson's, Martins and Taylor's that were there that day and even better now that the wood has aged a bit. Best part is that I paid $950 with a factory hardshell case out the door then... but the price shown here is well worth it... They don't really come along this nice very often, get one of these while you still can... Highest Recommendations! I love my guitar...

Pignose G40V Tube Amp Review

Pignose G40V Tube Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are a lot of glowing reviews of this amp all over the internet. Chances are, if you're reading this right now, you've read other such reviews. So rather than say what has already been said, let me give potential buyers some useful knowledge so that you know what to expect from this amplifier....
First of all, I find this to be soundly constructed and I will not hesitate to gig with this amp. I have no reliability issues. The amp is quite sturdy unless you are a reckless person by nature. It is loud enough for full-band rehearsals and club gigs. With an extention speaker cabinet, it is more than loud enough for large outdoor gigs. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE.
Second of all, why is this amp only $199? If you're wondering why it's so cheap, it's because (a) labor is cheaper in China and (b) Pignose compromised on cosmetics and cheaper enclosure materials so that they could produce a GOOD SOUND in an inexpensive amplifier. So don't worry about your tone based on the price.
Third of all, be aware that this is 40 watts of tube power (i.e. LOUD!!!) coming out of a single 10" speaker. The speaker is a little mismatched because it's difficult to get a full spectrum of sound when you combine that much power with such a small speaker. As a result, you lose a bit of low end. This problem will obviously go away if you take the manufacturer's recommendation and run the amp through a speaker cab (the amp comes with both 4-ohm and 8-ohm output jacks, which I think is a very good feature for a small amp). If you are used to playing detuned heavy metal, you will find the speaker to be a little brittle. But it is a very good speaker. Give it a week or two of playing before you judge it, because it's factory-fresh and needs to be broken in a bit.
Fourthly, about the tone. You can definitely achieve sparkling cleans with infinite headroom if you back off on your GUITAR's volume knob a bit. The amp's speciality is producing those rich and punchy in-between, mid-gain tones. I typically leave my gain volume between 50 and 60 percent. For full saturation, this amp can definitely achieve it, but I recommend getting a cabinet with 12" speakers for it. I'm afraid the amp is just too powerful for the little 10" speaker when it comes to saturated gain. (BUT REMEMBER -> SMALLER SPEAKER = LOWER COST. THIS IS A GOOD COST-SAVING MEASURE DONE DELIBERATELY BY PIGNOSE TO GIVE YOU A WONDERFUL-SOUNDING AMP AT A CHEAP PRICE.)
Finally, this is a vintage-sounding amp. Don't expect Mesa or Hughes & Kettner tones from it, because it's not that type of amp. One channel, no reverb, no footswitch, etc.... People like me appreciate the simplistic setup, but other people prefer amps with multiple channels. Be aware that this is a one-channel amp. If you want more than one channel, look for a different amp.
I highly recommend this amplifier, and I will not hesitate to buy another one should I need to in the future. Full range of tones and savvy construction at a low price.

Aguilar DB 212 Bass Cabinet, 8 Ohm, Boss Tweed Review

Aguilar is known for many things: their high standards, the build quality of their products, impressive sound, warm deep tone etc. This cab is no different. Simply put, it's a stunning piece of equipment. It's got that signature Aguilar sound: very warm and punchy, with deep lows and slightly subdued highs. Don't get me wrong, you can get plenty of crispness out of this cab, but it really excels at those punchy midrange frequencies and the low lows. Volume-wise, it really packs a punch. Paired with my Aggie AG500SC, it shakes the house by a quarter-turn of the master volume knob. By itself it is perfectly capable of cutting through the mix at mid-size venues.
The build quality is top-notch. It's solid as a rock (and about as heavy). The tolex and grill-cloth are a bit fragile, so be prepared to take care of this cab (or fork over some dough for a cover), but the looks are so stunning I'm more than willing to put up with it. The boss-tweed tolex is immaculate; no seams, folds, tears, or bubbles to be found. The grill-cloth has a beautiful pattern to it, which you will catch yourself staring at during rehearsals. When paired with a matching head and headcase, you've got a seriously beautiful piece of equipment on your hands. It never fails to draw compliments when I bring it out for gigs and rehearsals.
There are a couple of really nice little details on this cab as well. There's a knob on the back to adjust the tweeter, giving you precise control over the crispness of the tone. In addition, the DB212 sports a speakon connection, which is a delight to have. The casters are solid and the recessed grips are very heavy-duty and impeccably built. You'll even enjoy the craft that went into the name-plate and the trim that surrounds the grill-cloth.
So in a nutshell, this is a fantastic cab with great tone, impressive build quality and stunning looks. You will not be disappointed.
I must also give my highest recommendation to Amazon, which not only has hands-down the BEST selection of Aguilar products, but also has the best prices by a wide margin (including FREE shipping). Delivery was quick and efficient, and there were no problems with the cab.

Based on the same sonic footprint as the DB 112, the DB 212 is a great mid-sized cabinet for medium to large venues. The 13-ply birch cabinet, which is tuned for deep lows and a punchy midrange, benefits from the full, round sound of the 12" speakers.
