(More customer reviews)I own a bar with 150 person capacity, nothing that this SRM1801 shouldn't be able to handle. Other people have posted reviews saying they played for 300 person events with no problem. Not the case in my experience. We have gone through 2 of these subs in a matter of 3 weeks. The first one we bought got used by our DJ for 3 nights, on the 3rd night, it died halfway through the night after being played for only about 2 hours on less than half volume.
So back to the store it went, swapped out for a brand new one under warranty. Put the new one in place, and the first night it was used, it too died after about 2.5 hours of use. I even told the DJs it's a brand new sub, take it easy on it to break it in and they did, only putting it at less than half way up, and not pushing it hard at all. I am returning it and getting the JBL EON series sub for a couple hundred dollars more. Our DJ uses the JBLs at other venues and he pounds on them every weekend a LOT harder than this Mackie ever saw, and has had zero problems with the JBL.

Mackie Thump TH-15A 2-Way Powered Loudspeaker (Single Speaker) Review

(More customer reviews)These speakers are clean, clear powerful. Very tight and clean bass (no low end "mud". The speakers have a very useable eq section. They have low impedence in and outs that make joining two or more of these (or other active speakers) as easy as plugging in another low impedence mic cable and going to another speaker. This keeps the signal clean and you don't need to utilize additional outputs on your mixer.
The sound is great. I have owned a pair of Behringer (B212) active speakers and a JBL 15 inch speaker in a cabinet driven by a QSC amp for a few years and have generally been pleased with the sound but I was looking for more natural, punchier low end (and I hate lugging the very heavy QSC amp). These Mackie speakers have the sound I was looking for and are actually lighter than my smaller Behringer speakers. I am now useing the Behringers on stands with the Mackies on the floor (I leave the QSC and JBL cab home). It is a very big sound.
Note: After I bought one of these to try, I had trouble getting a second one. Everbody I contacted from Musicinsfriend, Sweetwater and Guitar Center, were all out out of stock and waiting for backorders. Don't be surprised if you hear this when buying these. They are currently a very in demand item. The price on these does not vary much and $350.00 is the going price across the board.

JBL JRX118S Single 18-Inch 350W Continuous, 1400W Peak Passive Sub Bass Loudspeaker with Pole Mount Review

(More customer reviews)I own two of these subs and are MORE than satisfied! The bass is tight and punchy, but they can go low if you want them to. Make sure you use a crossover with a 24db slope and a good sound processor. I use a Behringer DSP 1424P sound enhancer and a BBE Max X3 crossover...GREAT SOUND!!!!!!!! Also the JRX118S has a 4ohm impedance, so make sure your amp is stable at 4ohms stereo. If are using one amp and are running two subs on one channel and your full range speakers on the other, make sure that your amp is stable at 2ohms. I recommend QSC amps!! These subs are complete over-achievers for the price!!!!!!
