Blue Microphones Bluebird Cardioid Condenser Mic Review

Blue Microphones Bluebird Cardioid Condenser Mic
Average Reviews:

This microphone sounds very good on everything I've tried it on. Running the mic through a DBX 376 mic pre, I was able to get some great vocals. Though to get a good amount of clarity on the consonants I did have to ask the singer to back up about six inches from the mic. Being close in, the mic just didn't pick up the T and S sounds. With that adjustment, the mic did a good job on vocals ending up with takes the singer and I were both happy with. It didn't blow me away, but it sounded good. I've used it on a combo amp with good results as well as acoustic guitar and mandolin with better results. Not blown away, but overall happy with the way it sounds being a two to three hundred dollar mic.
What I really don't like about this mic is how the look of the design and aesthetics of the mic are clearly more important to blue than the functionality. Getting this thing in and out of the shock mount is a bit of a pain as it threads into it. I just know I'm going to mis-thread the thing once and have to spend another 80 bucks to get a replacement. Also, every time you adjust the angle of the shock mount you really have to crank the small thumb screw to get it to stay into place. I find the thing very difficult to lock into place all for the sake of looking attractive. I find nothing less attractive than poor functionality. Which brings me to the pop screen. I've read plenty of reviews claiming the pop screen was useless. I wouldn't know because the screen that came with my mic doesn't fit the mic. I sent an email off to Blue and didn't hear anything for two weeks, in the mean time Amazon shipped a free replacement, but it had the exact same issue. Blue responded to a second email and they said the last batch of screens was bad. Blue is supposed to be shipping me a pop screen "when they become available", so I hope I'll be getting one.
All in all, it's a good sounding mic for the money. I find it to be on par with my ADK A51. It's not the "crown jewel" of my modest mic collection but a different flavor to use. But I find the functionality of the accessories to be cumbersome at best, and unusable at worst.

Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Black and White (Wild One) Review

Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Black and White (Wild One)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 30" short scale Fleabass is a pleasant surprise; light weight, great sounding, well-balanced, and extremely easy to play for extended periods. The big surprise is the big, full sound from the single passive humbucker; with very little EQ (and a touch of sub-harmonics), this bass sounds full-sized indeed. The Fleabass is well-detailed, with a massive cast bridge featuring individually adjustable string height and intonation (allen wrench included) and very smooth action tuners. Yes, at this price point, they're copies, but they're pretty good copies.
Where this bass lost that last star was in finish details. The paint, while smooth (no orange peel)was oversprayed; bits of black can be seen around the edges of the white trim pieces. More seriously (but easily correctable), the control cavity comes unsheilded, and the bass is as a result more sensitive to the standard sources of hum (light dimmers, etc.) than most contemporary basses. The first thing I did was line the control cavity with sheet copper, which fixed the issue. As delivered, the bass had medium action and good intonation; I lowered the action without encountering any fret buzz. The round-wound strings supplied are of unknown origin, but play well, stay in tune without much effort, and sound surprisingly good.
In summary, the Fleabass is a very high quality instrument, and a pleasure to play. Highly recommended, especially at Amazon's amazingly low price.

A great bass for beginners starting out, or for those with smaller hands, the Junior Bass is a 30-inch scale, 20-fret bass with a solid alder body. A maple bolt-on neck, rosewood fingerboard, and cutaway for fret access make it super-playable. Quality electronics, hardware, and factory setup mean it'll stay that way.

Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Blue and Orange (Water) Review

Fleabass Junior 3/4 Size Bass Guitar Blue and Orange (Water)

I got this bass for travel. It's shorter than a short-scale bass,
weighs only 7 lb. and is snug in its bag and carries very easily.
It plays very nicely and does the job as an enjoyable playable travel
bass. It's not a bass I'd play much more than that, however, as it's
not of super quality, but good quality. However, it is half the price
of the Traveler II Bass which sounded remarkably awful and felt awful
to play and was nearly impossible to tune or restring. For a kid or
easy on-the-go, this bass is a perfect solution.

Luna Athena Hollowbody Acoustic Guitar, Aqua Mist Review

Luna Athena Hollowbody Acoustic Guitar, Aqua Mist
Average Reviews:

I felt compelled to bring the star rating up on this; For the record.. this guitar is awesome! I don't know what is going on with amazon or other sites; But please don't blame Luna or the product for others' poor customer service.
I have owned this guitar for over 2 years: yes it is as beautiful as the picture if not more so; this guitar gets compliments wherever I go. The sound is awesome but pretty average to most electrics.. maybe somewhat fuller; but its a relatively small as semi hollow body ('s) go.
What I love best (besides the beautiful color, moon phase frets, and look of the guitar) is the action; very nice and low; slim neck profile as all Luna's; very easy to play without a compromise on sound; light weight and ergonomic; you will not be disappointed with this guitar; it is my favorite guitar; and I don't anticipate this changing any time soon.

Luna Fauna Guitar, Dolphin Tranz Blue/Quilted Maple Review

Luna Fauna Guitar, Dolphin Tranz Blue/Quilted Maple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After many years, I was looking to replace an older guitar. One that had been refretted twice, and rather than a third time, I thought I was ready for a new (extra) guitar. I looked at all kinds of instruments, and read a ton of reviews. One consideration was color, since, I had always wanted a blue guitar, though that was a secondary thought. I still wanted a quality and well sounding guitar.
Eventually I settled on this one by Luna. I am very pleased with it. The sound is bright, consistant, the fret board easy to play. The finish is absolutely fantastic. I was worried there might be some blemishes or uneveness to the instrument's finish and construction (blue can make any unpleasant nick or scratch stand out), but I looked it over carefully from top to bottom, it's perfect. Amazing craftsmanship.
The keys are high quality, as is every other component part. The built in tuner is a big plus. The electronics work with no problems, and the sound is consistant with good tone, even when plugged into an amp (I used a small Fender).
The (stock) strings are heavy, but I plan to change those over my favorite light strings. No big deal there.
Overall this is a great instrument, well worth the price. For those interested, Luna guitars is in Tampa, Florida, and is a women owned and operated company. I find the the finish as insprirational, and if your're going to have an instrument, why not get one that looks great?
