(More customer reviews)I am a DJ with 23 years' experience, who worked for Denon as a "Certified Denon DJ" and beta tester (2004-'05), and for Guitar Center as a Pro Audio salesperson (2005). I can say with certainty, the best (and for me, only) CD player options available to long-time DJs who expect their equipment to withstand the rigors of the club and of the road, are the Pioneer and Denon. I use Denon exclusively, as I have for years.
The difference between Pioneer and Denon offerings is perhaps the difference between Mercedes and Rolls Royce. Pioneer, already somewhat the industry standard, has forged ahead and made amazing contributions to the world of VDJs, with their incredible new mixers and their DVJ-X1 DVD decks. Its advantage over Denon is the removable chip that stores cue points for particular CDs; since quite a few clubs have these decks already, all you need is the chip and your music, and you're good to go.
But Denon's R&D department has continually scored coups with their players, beginning with this, the flagship DN-S5000, with its incredibly responsive belt-driven spinning platter (world's first) and its junior, the DN-S3000. It also has on-board effects--brake, dump (to backward mask profanity on the fly), and reverse. It also allows one to plays two tracks from the same disc AT THE SAME TIME (or mix back and forth between them); and with the hot disc feature, one can eject a disc while the song keeps playing, replace the disc for another, and fade into a track from the new disc.
Denon reproduces much of the look and all of the feel of vinyl turntables, and the ability for each model to store up to 1000 individual memo points, which can be communicated to another Denon player when linked, is another feature that embraces the Digital Age and distinguishes them from the competition. Free software are posted on the website, when available. Unquestionably, Denon also has the best 1-yr service warranty.

(More customer reviews)Awesome awesome guitar. I can't say that enough. The rosewood neck is so beautiful. I get compliments on a regular basis on the look and sound of this guitar. It's earthy to my ears. A little on the darker side due to the mahogany body and rosewood neck. I play jazz, rock and fusion on it and it sounds awesome for each. The neck has a smaller profile which is great for my hands. I prefer the feel of it to my Les Paul or any of my other guitars really. I'm definitely a Music Man convert. My next purchase will be an MM Silhouette Special. Excellent build quality and attention to detail. Beautifully polished frets with no sharp edges whatsoever. Very low action right out of the box. No buyer's remorse here.

Replacement Strat Parts Kit Black Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this set to finish a guitar that I am building from scratch. At first glance, it looks like a great deal. I ordered this kit and immediately contacted the vendor (WD Music) with a question. I asked if the pickguard, trem cover, knobs, etc. were black and if they were not could they sub black. The response I got was that no, they are white and that if I had wanted them black, I should have called in the order and that it was too late now to do anything.
5 days later the box arrived at my door. It was very well packed and complete with all the parts described. The pickguard was pre-wired and ready to go. There were not any instruction sheets what-so-ever. I have to say that I was less than pleased with the quality of the items. The tuners are very cheap Kluson Delux machines with plastic knobs. The pickguard is a white-black-white and is of decent quality. Pickups are Kent Armstrong, and the jury's still out on those. Cord jack and strap buttons are low quality and a dingy satin black finish. The tremolo is also the same dingy satin black and seems to be low to medium quality. The "extra parts" are lowest-of-low quality and include 2 screwdrivers a super cheap string winder, strings, polishing cloth and cord.
In all, for half the price it would be an ok set, for $250, it's not.

You can dial in any / Wah / or funk sound you could possibly want. Cheap price considering its potential. My five year search for the right filter is finally over for now. Pignose G40V Tube Amp Review

(More customer reviews)There are a lot of glowing reviews of this amp all over the internet. Chances are, if you're reading this right now, you've read other such reviews. So rather than say what has already been said, let me give potential buyers some useful knowledge so that you know what to expect from this amplifier....
First of all, I find this to be soundly constructed and I will not hesitate to gig with this amp. I have no reliability issues. The amp is quite sturdy unless you are a reckless person by nature. It is loud enough for full-band rehearsals and club gigs. With an extention speaker cabinet, it is more than loud enough for large outdoor gigs. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE.
Second of all, why is this amp only $199? If you're wondering why it's so cheap, it's because (a) labor is cheaper in China and (b) Pignose compromised on cosmetics and cheaper enclosure materials so that they could produce a GOOD SOUND in an inexpensive amplifier. So don't worry about your tone based on the price.
Third of all, be aware that this is 40 watts of tube power (i.e. LOUD!!!) coming out of a single 10" speaker. The speaker is a little mismatched because it's difficult to get a full spectrum of sound when you combine that much power with such a small speaker. As a result, you lose a bit of low end. This problem will obviously go away if you take the manufacturer's recommendation and run the amp through a speaker cab (the amp comes with both 4-ohm and 8-ohm output jacks, which I think is a very good feature for a small amp). If you are used to playing detuned heavy metal, you will find the speaker to be a little brittle. But it is a very good speaker. Give it a week or two of playing before you judge it, because it's factory-fresh and needs to be broken in a bit.
Fourthly, about the tone. You can definitely achieve sparkling cleans with infinite headroom if you back off on your GUITAR's volume knob a bit. The amp's speciality is producing those rich and punchy in-between, mid-gain tones. I typically leave my gain volume between 50 and 60 percent. For full saturation, this amp can definitely achieve it, but I recommend getting a cabinet with 12" speakers for it. I'm afraid the amp is just too powerful for the little 10" speaker when it comes to saturated gain. (BUT REMEMBER -> SMALLER SPEAKER = LOWER COST. THIS IS A GOOD COST-SAVING MEASURE DONE DELIBERATELY BY PIGNOSE TO GIVE YOU A WONDERFUL-SOUNDING AMP AT A CHEAP PRICE.)
Finally, this is a vintage-sounding amp. Don't expect Mesa or Hughes & Kettner tones from it, because it's not that type of amp. One channel, no reverb, no footswitch, etc.... People like me appreciate the simplistic setup, but other people prefer amps with multiple channels. Be aware that this is a one-channel amp. If you want more than one channel, look for a different amp.
I highly recommend this amplifier, and I will not hesitate to buy another one should I need to in the future. Full range of tones and savvy construction at a low price.

Aguilar DB 212 Bass Cabinet, 8 Ohm, Boss Tweed Review

(More customer reviews)Aguilar is known for many things: their high standards, the build quality of their products, impressive sound, warm deep tone etc. This cab is no different. Simply put, it's a stunning piece of equipment. It's got that signature Aguilar sound: very warm and punchy, with deep lows and slightly subdued highs. Don't get me wrong, you can get plenty of crispness out of this cab, but it really excels at those punchy midrange frequencies and the low lows. Volume-wise, it really packs a punch. Paired with my Aggie AG500SC, it shakes the house by a quarter-turn of the master volume knob. By itself it is perfectly capable of cutting through the mix at mid-size venues.
The build quality is top-notch. It's solid as a rock (and about as heavy). The tolex and grill-cloth are a bit fragile, so be prepared to take care of this cab (or fork over some dough for a cover), but the looks are so stunning I'm more than willing to put up with it. The boss-tweed tolex is immaculate; no seams, folds, tears, or bubbles to be found. The grill-cloth has a beautiful pattern to it, which you will catch yourself staring at during rehearsals. When paired with a matching head and headcase, you've got a seriously beautiful piece of equipment on your hands. It never fails to draw compliments when I bring it out for gigs and rehearsals.
There are a couple of really nice little details on this cab as well. There's a knob on the back to adjust the tweeter, giving you precise control over the crispness of the tone. In addition, the DB212 sports a speakon connection, which is a delight to have. The casters are solid and the recessed grips are very heavy-duty and impeccably built. You'll even enjoy the craft that went into the name-plate and the trim that surrounds the grill-cloth.
So in a nutshell, this is a fantastic cab with great tone, impressive build quality and stunning looks. You will not be disappointed.
I must also give my highest recommendation to Amazon, which not only has hands-down the BEST selection of Aguilar products, but also has the best prices by a wide margin (including FREE shipping). Delivery was quick and efficient, and there were no problems with the cab.

Giannini GCSM10 EL Handcrafted Series Cavaquinho (Acoustic-Electric) Review

I've read mixed reviews about Giannini cavaquinhos on message boards, but this is one of the finest instruments I have ever played. I absolutely love it. The action and intonation are refined. It resonates beautifully. Solid rosewood sides and back. It FEELS and sounds like a great instrument, and the finishing is beautiful.
I have the less expensive Giannini GCSM 4 CTE cavaquinho. It's a decent little beater, but this is a vastly superior instrument.
The pickup sounds great and the built in tuner is a lovely bonus. Amplified or acoustic, it's fabulous.
I can honestly say is a pleasure to play. I'm enthusiastic to play it.

Kustom KBA Series 65-watt Bass Amp Review

For a combo amp, this had what i was looking for. Some effects, low impedance line out, footswitch in/out and ext. speaker option. For a 65W amp, the drive was good when using an external 15"/10" cab and was capable of putting me over my drummer during practice.
However, from day one the cabinet showed signs of poor craftsmanship. The entire box would buzz on certain notes, especially low B unless I had my external cab online and the 12" speaker bypassed. Bringing it back to the shop where i bought was unhelpful and it was up to me to tighten up the box the best i could, which is constructed of small screws and particle board.
The electronics consist of a preamp, power amp(TDA9274) and a back panel for accessories such as the footswitch and ext. speaker. after about 2 years the power amp transistor failed and took out several other components on the power amp board and i've been using my old Fender amp to drive my cabinet since. after looking online it appears the heatsink is a common cause of failure and Kustom mounts their heatsink on the other side of the aluminum chassis.
I'm currently looking up the cost of replacing the power board as a whole item from Kustom. If i can get it for under $100 i'll replace it. if not, it will join my list of electronic projects and i'll replace it component by component (the TDA9274 costs about $30) and save my money for a tube amp.
In hindsight, and remembering the Mesa-boogie and Ampeg amps on the showroom floor that were similar in price, i should have put my money on a different amp or even just a head. I dont even have the original speaker and cabinet anymore, just the amp.
Overall i'll rate the combo per the following:

I really did like the Amp (before it fried) but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is only going to use the speaker and box it came in. as a combo, it was pretty disappointing but i liked driving my own external speakers with it.

I've played quite a few different basses in my musical career and this is it. I would never play anything else.
Bass has a great weight proportion, fast action, smooth neck and amazing electronics. Bass sounds as good as you've heard and is comfortable to play. Well worth the money if you have the dough to spend.

(More customer reviews)a very unique sounding ride. i love this ride becouse it doesnt have that flat shaky sound you find amoung most other rides.the sound omits more of a ring to it when played at the highest intensity with alot of after decay time i must add. its also perfect for using somthing to follow if youd preferre that over high hats at any paticular time. i mostly like to practice harder music like metal, wich this cymbol is perfect for. i also like to experiment putting different types of music togetter wich this is also good for becouse i just cant say ive ever heard anthing like this ride cymbol. i consider it one of my best peices on my set. so if your intrested in a new cymbol i recomend checking this one out to see if it matches your paticular taste, but for one thing when you here it you will understand where im coming from.
