(More customer reviews)This unit was all the rave a few years back in the audio/home recording magazines. And for good reason.
The PRO VLA is a very smooth compressor with good metering. It's easy to get a nice overarching compression ratio for individual channel OR for main mix duties. The stereo link function is nice, but I don't know how useful the panning feature is when it's linked in stereo. I just leave it panned up the middle to keep both channels' output the same.
And kudos to ART for engineering it to be relatively free of pumping and breathing artifacts that plague lesser units.
I've got mine in the main mix insert of my analog front-end/digital back end studio. It's tightened up my mixes and the sound quality has improved greatly, as compared to the other brand name comp that was in the chain previously.
The fact that it's a very sexy looking unit doesn't hurt. The VU's are as sensitive as the ones on my big analog mixer and lend a nice vibe.
I'd put this into the 'why didn't I buy one sooner' pile.

I like this for all around use for vocals, guitars, some bass and even mastering tracks on my software sub mix bus, this can smoothing out the peaks if set correctly, can fatten up guitar tracks if attack and relaese and threshold are properly set...Its worth its money for all around use and is clean if set up properly....good deal

It has a power conditioner included preventing that sound polution which is so important when you play in different places that might not have the best equipment or have a lot of lights.
It does feel a little heavy but pedals usually are a kinda heavy so that doesnt help. Despite it being heavy, it has a good handle, wheels, and is made out of hard plastic, you can't get lighter than that!
It has an ideal space for a good number of pedals, you don't need to remove the rubber from your pedals ( I saw someone say it in a previous review ). I bought some velcro and pasted it to the bottom of my pedals, adding an awesome grip for moving around and preventing the pedals from flying all over the place when traveling.
It's a great item to protect your investments.

(More customer reviews)My initial look into power conditioners was to protect my equipment then I saw that this had some line noise technology and let me tell you it kills the harshness by plugging everything nearby your equipment into it. I have a Mesa Quad preamp, Eventide Pitchfactor, Behringer Vintage Overdrive, Eleven Rack, Phillips 80 watt powered speakers, an Oyen Digital external hard drive, and a desk lamp plugged in. It is really great to have the extra room for the power supplies that are large also...and I have the front outlet if I need to plug in something else. I re recorded a song and killed eleven plugins in Pro Tools that I was using to try and get rid of the harshness. I thought it was my playing. Nope. You owe it to yourself to get one of these!
Peace of mind, and great sound! Recommended if you can't find a 1215 used or something. I found one but the guy on Craigslist wont get back with me so I got this one and I know Amazon will back it up too! I am an Amazon prime user and ordered this early Friday and got it early afternoon Saturday for $4 shipping.
