Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar, Lake Placid Blue Maple Fingerboard Review

(More customer reviews)In an earlier life, I was a rockabilly bass player--both upright and electric bass-- but never owned an electric six-string. Played acoustical six- and 12-string back in the folk music days of the 1960's. I saw this Strat on the Amazon site and the Lake Placid Blue paint job caught my attention. Since one of my favorite albums is Tony Joe White's "Lake Placid Blues" I thought this must be a sign from God. I clicked it into the cart and the rest is history. Now I'm an aging Swamp Rocker!
Out of the box this axe plays well and the sound is truly Stratocaster. Even my wife (a classical guitar junkie) even recognized the penetrating Strat sound. With a $500 price tag this little Fender is hard to beat. The gig bag is more than adequate protection unless you are planning on opening for the Stones at Radio City Music Hall and need to ship it to New York. :>)
Since my experience has been all acoustical, the Strat will take some 'getting used to' but I don't see that as a major problem and it certainly isn't the guitar's fault.
Anyway, I don't have any reservations about recommending this Fender.

(More customer reviews)Amazon sent a JPX 6 instead of the JPX 7. With considerable difficulty I explained this to them. They were insistent that I return the item at my expense (to include insurance). I refused and insisted that they arrange and pay for collection, they eventually agreed. They also eventually credited my credit card account. However, with currency exchange costs, I remain out of pocket by about $150!
I did buy the guitar elsewhere and my son is very pleased with it.

Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar, Alpine White Review

(More customer reviews)I bought mine over 2 weeks ago at Guitar center and was struck by the Alpine White color, which I found out was a Custon Shop limited edition. When I got it home, I noticed that it wouldn't stay in tune and that was due to the fact that it wasn't set up properly upon the leaving the factory in China, contrary to what the inspection label on the back of the headstock says. The intonation, along with the string and pickup height, were in need of adjustment and once I took care of those problems, I was amazed at how well this guitar sounded and how great it stayed in tune. The rest of the guitar from the frets to the electronics, seems to be very well built, but I would've preferred block inlays instead of the dot ones on the neck. Other than that,there was nothing that I could find wrong with this guitar at all. This is a very reasonably priced instrument for the beginner and advanced musician as far as I'm concerned, and I'm speaking from over 36 years of playing. This is a welcome alternative for those of us who can't afford the outrageous prices for the US made Gibsons, and seeing that Epiphone is owned by them, you really more or less have the same thing, just made in a different country, that's all! Great guitar for a great price!

(More customer reviews)I love seagull guitars. I had an s6 before buying this one,and bought it sight unseen knowing the quality they put in to their guitars. I went with the mosaic rather than the studio simply because I love the sound of cedar. Its not quite as bright as spruce with rosewood (this one is solid cedar top with solid mahogany sides and back), but much warmer. It has a played in sound right from the get go. I had a professional set up done (around $75) and I swear this item plays and sounds as good as ANY $3000 guitar I have ever played. Its amazing. Mine has the electronics and they do wonders. If yourlooking for a professional quality guitar at a fraction of the price, get a seagull. The artist line is their top of the line but you wont go wrong with ANY seagull.

(More customer reviews)The Fender Supersonic is a 1x12 guitar amplifier. This means that it has one twelve inch speaker. I highly recommend this amp for blues, funk, classic rock, and possibly even jazz. If you are looking to play metal or ay really high gain music you should look elsewhere. This two channels, a clean and overdrive. First off is the clean channel. This channel has three knobs, volume, treble, and bass. It also has a switch that allows you to switch between a Fender Bassman and a Fender Vibrolux. Both of these models are accurate and allow you to get that classic Fender clean tone. The overdrive channel has six knobs, gain 1, gain 2, treble, middle, bass, and volume. The two gain knobs control the gain for two cascading gain circuits, somewhat like what S.R.V. did with two Ibanez Tubescreamers. These two gain allow you to go from an almost crystal clear jazzy tone to a very overdriven, but not muddy, classic rock tone. The EQ is very responsive, once you've played with it for a few minutes, you can really get a wide range of tones. There is also a built in spring reverb tank. It is a very lush and natural sounding reverb. One knob one the Supersonic controls the reverb. The reverb can be used on both the clean and overdrive channels. Over all, the Fender Supersonic is a very good sounding, versatile amp. If you are looking for that famous Fender clean tone, but also want a more modern, higher gain tone, look no further, the Supersonic is for you. Output: 60 watts. Weight: 54 lbs. Height: 17.3".
