Marshall MG250 DFX Stereo Combo Amplifier Review

Marshall MG250 DFX Stereo Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

I bought this amp at a bargain price and thought that I may resell it. I'm very fussy about amps as all I've had until the last year or so were pre CBS Fenders. A Princeton Reverb, A Deluxe Reverb and a Twin Reverb with EV SRO speakers. Well, this Marshall can't be a Fender vintage tube amp but it is a really decent amp. And the cost of tube amps is nuts. I decided to keep this amp. It has some nice clean sounds, which is what I'm after. I also use a Fender solid state and I find that these amps sound pretty good. Not like the solid state amps of the 60s. Standell solid states or the Silvertone 6 x 10"? :

Marshall AS100D 2x8 Acoustic Combo Amp Review

Marshall AS100D 2x8 Acoustic Combo Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Finally, I've found an amp that does what I want it to. Great sound, clear and LOUD. Reverb could be better, but I sometimes use separate effects. Now here was the shocker: I hooked up my electic guit and PODxt, expecting the same crappy sound I've always gotten through acoustic amps (I've tried 5 different brands/models). JIMINY CRICKET what a fantastic sound with this amp, with an electric guitar thru the POD. I'm in HOG HEAVEN. Now, I suppose purists would scoff, but I'm into DRAMA not "multiple condenser mic" purity. All I can say is, after YEARS of flopping around trying to get the right sound at a human price, this wonderful machine does it all for me. At this price, I don't see how anyone could be disappointed.

Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp 4 X 4 In Review

Roland Micro Cube Bass RX Bass Combo Amp 4 X 4 In

I have the original Roland MicroCube. As a bass player, everyone thought I was crazy for buying it, but I wanted something that I could play are really low volume after everyone goes to sleep. It works. But, the low B on my 5-string sounds like crap. I tried the CBRX at the store -- what a difference! The bass response is much better and the amp modeling & effects are designed for a bass, not a guitar. The added drum loops are a bonus. I would never gig with something this small, but I could see using it in the studio for going direct. It actually has nice tone at low volume. This would be perfect for jamming with a couple acoustic guitars.

Line 6 HD 147 300-Watt Digital Modeling Amp Head Review

Line 6 HD 147 300-Watt Digital Modeling Amp Head
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been playing hard rock and metal for 29 years (love Dream Theater, OLD Metallica, Vai, Satch, etc.). Wow, has it been that long? I have done more recording and gigging than I can remember. Anyway, I was skeptical when I first heard about this, read the reviews, and listened to some of the digital deniers/naysayers. I, too, have always preferred tube sound to digital. However, I quickly found that, if you understand and know how to properly adjust this amp, the distortion blows the others away... in depth, in styles, in selections, in sheer amount of leeway with which to experiment and create your own, signature sound (instead of being staying in the flock of sheep... you really want to sound like everyone else anyway? You can if you want with this amp... but, this amp allows for SO MUCH MORE. No one ever was cited as being innovative for sounding like others... But, I digress.) And, good GOD, when you click the STEREO switch and hear this thing through true, 2 sided stereo... THE distortion is absolutely beautiful, smooth, creamy, and just MAJESTIC-sounding. Doesn't sound compressed and like you're listening to it through a can... or has been compressed down to a few frequencies. Fills the entire room with a symphony of brutality. THAT, my friends, is where you get HEADROOM... STEREO SOUND. The clean sounds you can produce are without equal. Like playing crystal strings... shimmering, clear, and really brings out the different characteristics of adjustments to your guitar... volume, tone, pickup selections... where you pick on the fretboard, all of it. Amazingly responsive to different styles. It really shows off your instrument and your brand of music.
The ease of use, the bone-crushing distortions that go way beyond what anyone would ever use, the crystal cleans, and the effects are all incredible. Speaking of effects, how many amps have a pre-set noise gate that you don't even have to really adjust for loud volumes? Just hit the button on your amp! Also, built in compression... again, just hit the button on your amp.
You know what, at the end of the day, all of these people who dribble on and on incessantly about that type of tube distortion and this type of tube distortion... Satriani, Vai, and Petrucci all use the Boss DS-1 distortion pedal to get their distortion sound. Yep, lol, that's right. Look at their racks and their rigs... Lynch used ProCo (Rat) stomp box for his distortion. MANY players use Ibanez TS-1, etc, etc. Well, here's an amp that you don't have to go buy a pedal for... Ever.
Get this and enjoy the freedom. Throw your effects away. GET THE FBV SHORTBOARD, however... Have fun and make music, people!!! Enjoy!!

Though this is a decent discount from the $399 list price that other vendors are posting for the Viper 100, the posted list price on Amazon is a lot closer to the next-level Viper 1000 guitar. Otherwise, ESP makes a decent entry level model in the Viper 100 and is a good buy.

Laney VH100R 100 Watt All Tube Guitar Head Review

Laney VH100R 100 Watt All Tube Guitar Head
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First I have to say this is just an incredible head! It has two channels but with the gain boost it acts like more like a four. I 've had mine for 9 years and going and I never had a single problem with it. It's always worked and performed flawlessly whenever I fire her up. I like that fact that the power tube sockets are mounted on the chasis instead of the board and also like the fact that Laney uses Toroidal transformers which are more expensive to manufacture. Other than that this amp has the goods! The FX loop chain is very cleverly thought out. You can dedicate separate pedals to your channels without altering your sound or configuration with your amp. Brilliant! One thing I can't believe it that this amp has been designed around the mid 90s and hardly anything has changed about it except for the mounted handles. Other than that? It's be tried and true to be the same as it was in the 90's, more importantly all those features has been just as useful today as it was back then. I love the sound of this amp! I can get clean jazzy tones to full saturated distortion. I don't even need pedal for leads. It's that good! This amp does have a very sensitive and interactive tone shaping features so it may take some time to fine tune your sound but I like that way because it gives you the flexibility to find new possibilities and I always do. I seem to always make some adjustments after a few weeks to months and even a year to only find out that I got a better sound than I did from the previous configuration. All it all I've owned many amps, Marshall, Peavey, Orange, Egnater, Mesa, Fender, Rivera and Engl and I have to say they all have something good to offer but at the same time there are things that they lack. The VH100R has exactly what I look for in an amp!

The VH100R features twin footswitchable channels each with its own footswitchable gain, independent 3 band EQ, independent reverb level and dedicated FX loop, giving you an unprecedented level of flexibility. You can now go from a super clean shimmer, to a warm clean crunch, to a stack style distortion to a full on lead tone as simply as stepping on a switch - which is included with the amp (FS4).The by word for the VH100R is flexibility - flexibility of tone and flexibility of use. In this day and age the modern guitar player has an arsenal of products available to them - from single stomp box effects to mighty racks. To cater for this level of choice the VH100R is fitted with five premium ECC83 preamp tubes and four premium EL84 output tubes. If EL84's are not your power tube of choice one can easily switch them with 5881/6L6's with Laneys Switchable Valve Bias. The tonal possibilities are seemingly endless. Plug into one of these with any guitar you have and be amazed at the clarity and level of gain you now have at your control. Laney - Power To The Music.

Kustom Double Barrel 30 Watt 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

Kustom Double Barrel 30 Watt 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This amp is a good value for the money, but does not compare with a real tube amp. The amp is plenty loud, and has OK tone, better than the Fender Frontman, a comparable high-selling amp. It is a bit mid-heavy, high end is not that crisp and the low end can get a little muddy. But dont let that stop you, with some determination and a lot of adjustment, there is some good tone inside that amp.
We found the sweet spot on it, not too loud. We mic it and run through the PA, it sounds great.
Advantages:
-plenty loud
-tone has good range and can be dialed in
-gain channel has a great tube crunch, from bluesy to thrashy!
-great deal, beginner amp price, sounds nearly pro
Disadvantages:
-no footswitch for channel / effects change
-reverb and chorus are crap (turn them off, get nice pedals instead)
-only one input
-no fx loop

ESP LTD MH250 Electric Guitar with Tremolo (See Thru Black) Review

ESP LTD MH250 Electric Guitar with Tremolo (See Thru Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is actually Vladimir's 15-year-old son (the guitarist/metalhead of the household, haha). We ordered this guitar two days ago, and it just came yesterday. (I'm VERY pleased with the speed of its arrival, but I'm in CT and American Musical Supply is in New Jersey, so this probably won't be the case for everyone.) It's pretty safe for me to say that this guitar is one of the best guitars I've ever played. (I've only been playing for two years, but I've tried out plenty of guitars.) The playability is great, the sound is awesome (and the pickups give good variety while still sounding great), it feels very sturdy and heavy, and the floyd rose is a LOT of fun to play with. It came in perfect condition, too.
The only thing is, the picture here looks slightly reddish, though the actual guitar is very black. Look on the ESP website for a better picture, but keep in mind the visibility of the (awesome) pattern depends a lot on the light. But that isn't even any sort of drawback, I'm just saying that this picture isn't quite what the guitar really looks like.
Overall, I am VERY satisfied with this guitar. This is only a first impression, and my opinion may change in the long run, but from what I've seen so far this guitar blows my other ones out of the water. If you're looking for a high quality guitar (with a fun floyd rose tremolo to boot) for a relatively low price, I'd definitely recommend this.
(My bandmates are REALLY jealous.)

This guitar is playable out of the box, it's got a heavy/chunky kind of sound, the pick ups are nice, not the greatest but they're good. I loved it as soon as I started playing it. It's one of those guitars that attracts you to play well on it when you pick it up. It's bigger than you'd think, and the silver is beautiful, it's not too heavy, not too light, kind of perfect balance. The fretboard is fast and you'll have no problem going up and down this thing like I95. Did I Mention that it's really attention grabbing? My only qualm with it is that It had a lot of fret buzz when I started playing it but I guess I'll have to break it in.....BUY IT!

ESP LTD AX50 Electric Guitar (Black) Review

ESP LTD AX50 Electric Guitar (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I usually play BC Rich or Jackson, but after seeing this guitar in a pawn shop for a reasonable price, I could not resist it. Let me say this here and now, the action on this guitar is pure perfection. From the 1st fret to the 25th you can do it all. Those really hard solos that go down to the 23rd and 24th frets are so much easier now that I have been playing this.
The strings are strung through the back of the body and run over a solid bridge. This is the first guitar I've had like this, but these 'rear loaders' make the guitar feel very stable and sturdy. There are no locking nuts on the top neck nut, but this guitar stays in tune without any locking at all.
The 12th fret is marked 'AX50' in a little rectangle, the rest of the inlays are standard dots.
I would recommend this guitar to anybody, from a beginner to a pro, this axe is THE BOMB!

Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Twin Reverb Guitar Amp Review

Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Twin Reverb Guitar Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a quality amplifier if you're into country, surf, rock&roll, funk, ska, jazz... just about anything really! Being a combo makes this amp easier to travel, size-wise at least. And if you're into metal, as one reviewer here is, then this amp will not be enough without utilising some pedals.
What you get with the Twin Reverb is the definitive reverb of a high-end Fender, plus the tremelo. This reverb+tremelo on an amp was de rigeur in the early/mid sixties. That, coupled with the Blackface cosmetics makes this amp a real blast-from-the-past. You'll also get Fender's two seperate channels which can be patched for a fuller sound. Each channel has a bright switch. The amp is also loud enough on it's own to stand out, way out, above a drummer or whatever your guitar is having to compete with.
The downsides to the Twin Reverb include it's weight (more than sixty pounds) which is awkward when you're trying to carry it from it's single handle at the top of the amp. It would be easier if there were two side handles... but then you'd lose the tilt-back legs. I bought a flight case, and that solved the problem of not having side handes. Plus, I've got casters now too!
The only other downside to the Twin Reverb is that the reverb doesn't really do a whole lot at low volumes. If you can get one here for a thousand you ought to!

Marshall MG50FX Guitar Combo Amplifier (50 Watts, 4 Channels) Review

Marshall MG50FX Guitar Combo Amplifier (50 Watts, 4 Channels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just bought this amp a few days ago. So far, so good. It sounds great for what it is. It's a $380 Solid State amp, BUT it has 4 programmable channels, on board digital FX, an FX loop on the back, it's 50 LOUD watts, comes with a nice foot switch that's very easy to use, the amp is not too big or too heavy. You could use it at home for practice or to jam with friends and maybe do some small gigs with it. I'm hoping it won't break down as the other person before me said it did. By the way, the preset lead tone is great, with a touch of delay and lots of good sustain, it has a chunky tight sound to it that I really like.
I played it the other night and really enjoyed the sound. Lots of fun to play. I think for this price, for what you get, for the quality of the sounds, I think this amp is a great deal, providing it doesn't break down. I'm glad I bought it and I'm really impressed with this amp, and that's coming from a guy who owns a top of the line Boogie half stack.
Don't expect the Marshall MG50FX to sound like a $2,000 Boogie or Marshall valve amp, but it does sound great for what it is.
If you're a young guitar player, playing in your first band, and you need a good amp on a budget, this amp might be the one to get. You can just plug in to it and play. No need for outboard FX just to rock out. ....but you can add them if you want using the FX loop.
I just WISH I had something like the MG50 back when I was first playing in bands. This thing smokes all the solid state amps I used to use back in the 80's and 90's.

Finally its mine!!! Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to own Kirks pride and joy ESP guitar. Bought it for myself as a gift for surviving 3 tours in the middle east. Since Im not willing to shell out over $9,999 for some super edition guitar this one suits me fine. This one has everything that the $10K guitar has but not with cool graphics and a computer printed "autograph" on it. It has a very nice sound, the fret board is super smooth and built for his style of playing which is fast in case you dont know. The damn thing is a diamond in guitar form. Keeps its tune for a while too. Not so easy to tune back up but you will get used to it. Hey, great quality guitars cause for high maintenance. If youre willing to spend the money this is actually worth investing in if you plan on keeping it for life.

I have had my KH 202 for about four months now, and I have been very happy with it. It is a great looking instrument, and has a very balanced feel. The skull inlays are very eye-catching, and really give it that metal edge. The action was adjusted perfectly from the factory. Low and fast, easy to play. The licensed Floyd Rose trem works beautifully, and stays in tune better than my Dean hardtail. The EMG designed pickups have a good sound and tone range. I'm going to update them with a hotter passive EMG H4/H4A pair in the near future. If you are a Kirk Hammett or Metallica fan, this is your ticket for under 500 dollars. Even if you aren't, you will not be disappointed with this guitar.

I had an old Line6 Flextone. This amp had plenty of power but I was never able to get the sound I was looking for out of it (no fault of the amp). I love Line6 products and now own three after purchasing the Spider IV. This amp has so many presets that you can just push a button and find that perfect sound you were looking for. You can custom dial in your own sound or take one of the presets and tweak it a little if you want.
The clarity and drive this amp produces is breathtaking. So loud yet so clean and clear, and down right nasty sounding when you want it to be.
The ease of use and the amazing sound this head produces makes it an incredible value. Check one out - you will love it.

Beside the 300+ presets hand-crafted by 50 rock stars, and beside the almost 200 presets inspired by the best guitar songs of all time, you can also custom-make your own presets. Wise up to Smart FXSmart FX knobs put award-winning Line 6 effects at your fingertips. Easy to use, Smart FX let you spend less time tweaking and more time playing. Easily add or remove any amount of lush reverbs, exceptional echoes, tangy mods, and more. Make all your adjustments on the fly--the knobs are right in front you of you. Up to 4 Smart FX can be used simultaneously.

Smart FX effects include: Red Comp, Fuzz Pi, Auto Wah, Auto Swell, Pitch Glide, Smart Harmony, Sine Chorus, Line 6 Flanger, Phaser, U-Vibe, Opto Trem, Bias Trem, Digital Delay, Analog w/ Mod, Tape Echo, Multi-Head Echo, Sweep Echo, Reverse, Lux Spring Reverb, Vintage Plate Reverb, plus additional system effects like Quick Loop, Adjustable Noise Gate, Adjustable Boost, and Volume Routing.
Deep dive into your effects like never before! Every effect is fully adjustable up to 7 parameters deep, including routing pre- and post-amplifier. Sculpt your delays, mods, reverbs, pitch effects, and more with unparalleled control.

Line 6's first intelligent pitch shifter, Smart Harmony is fast-tracking and easy to use. Harmonize using major, minor, pentatonic, whole tone, and other types of scales. (Don't worry, you don't need to know music theory to use Smart Harmony). And then there's Pitch Glide, which is most effective when used with an FBV MkII foot controller. Use the foot pedal to smoothly shift your tone up or down to any interval within a four-octave range. Calibrate the effect to semitones, or to 10-cent increments to create cool chorus/detuning effects.

The Spider IV 120 also features Quick Loop, a 14-second sound-on-sound looper that's ideal for writing songs, practicing solos, jamming, and even dialing in your tone! Easy to use, Quick Loops controls are all on the front panel. Connect an FBV MkII foot controller for hands-free control of the looper functions.

Get simultaneous FX. Use up to 8 effects at the same time! Pour on the colors and textures with all 4 Smart FX, set the Boost and the Noise Gate, activate Quick Loop, and connect an FBV MkII foot controller to kick on the volume/wah pedal. How many other amplifiers can deliver that?

Dialed-In Rock Star Tones and PresetsWho do you want to sound like today? Discover the tones of your heroes in Spider IV amplifiers. 50 famous guitarists and bands, including Coheed & Cambria, Johnny Marr, Slipknot, and others, hand-crafted more than 300 of their signature tones, and turned them into Spider IV presets--from sparkling cleans to effect-laden tones to saturated high-gain heaven.

Plus, get one-touch access to almost 200 tones based on the best guitar songs of all time. From the switchblade-swinging slapback of the 1950s to the high-gain distortion of the 2000s, get the tones from Master of Puppets, Back in Black, Whole Lotta Love, Daytripper, Toxicity, Purple Haze, Head Like a Hole, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Crazy Train, and more.

You'll always sound your best with the built-in chromatic tuner. No need for an external tuner or additional guitar cables, this invaluable tool is integrated into the amps front panel. Simply activate the tuner with the push of a button.

Manual mode draws a more traditional amplifier experience out of Spider IV. When Manual mode is activated, all front-panel knobs work independently of one another. (Out of Manual mode, choosing an amp model may adjust the settings of the other front-panel knobs.)

To get the whole story of Spider IV amplifiers, you need to turn one around. All Spider IV combo amps feature a perfectly tuned three-quarter closed-back cabinet. This provides a tight, punchy, focused response that you can't get from an open-back cabinet. And a large, two-line LCD is your window into Spider IV. This is where you can deep dive into effects and adjust their parameters, scroll over 500 presets, see the tuner interface, name your user-created presets, get a visual representation of where your Smart FX knobs are set, and more.

Marshall AS50D Acoustic Guitar Amplifier (2x8 inch, 50 watts) Review

Marshall AS50D Acoustic Guitar Amplifier (2x8 inch, 50 watts)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have owned a Marshall AS50R (same amp-earlier generation) acoustic amp for several years and gig professionally with it....that is when it works. We have had ongoing problems with this amp and it has failed us several times while ON STAGE . It has been in the shop several times (and even back to the Marshall company where it was "repaired" and we were charged for shipping). It still only works intermittently and all attempts to fix it have failed. We were told by a repair technician that sub-standard soldering is an endemic problem with the newer Marshall amps. All I know is that we are very frustrated and disappointed with this unreliable amp.
