Giannini GCSM10 EL Handcrafted Series Cavaquinho (Acoustic-Electric) Review

Giannini GCSM10 EL Handcrafted Series Cavaquinho (Acoustic-Electric)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a forro fan and a guitar player, and I decided to take the plunge and buy the Giannini hand crafted model.
I've read mixed reviews about Giannini cavaquinhos on message boards, but this is one of the finest instruments I have ever played. I absolutely love it. The action and intonation are refined. It resonates beautifully. Solid rosewood sides and back. It FEELS and sounds like a great instrument, and the finishing is beautiful.
I have the less expensive Giannini GCSM 4 CTE cavaquinho. It's a decent little beater, but this is a vastly superior instrument.
The pickup sounds great and the built in tuner is a lovely bonus. Amplified or acoustic, it's fabulous.
I can honestly say is a pleasure to play. I'm enthusiastic to play it.

I bought this uke about a year ago and registered it on line at their site that I find out it is not really theirs but contracted out. well ok but i have a crack developeing in the bridge, well we need the reciept-- but its registered with you--- well not really. But i will send you a return auth that you get to pay for--- send you a repair estimate that you can pay and then return it to you at your expence ----no thanks id sooner put in in the garbage and get a reliable instrument. only noticed the crack because it developed a buzz on the 1st string second fret. the uke has never been out of my room and they wanted to know if I kept it in a safe dry place besides ,I keep in the case schmidt provided , do you use desicant ,are you kidding me!
Well the Uke is at the factory and they are covering the repairs and doing a fulll set up on it. They were great once we got everything in line. I hope it comes out well as I was really in love with this uke it is beautiful and played like butter so I'll put this back up to a five if the repair goes as promised!

Takamine TC135SC Classical 24-Fret Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural Review

Takamine TC135SC Classical 24-Fret Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The best part of this guitar is the 1 7/8 neck width(at the nut). Although the sound w/o amp is somewhat muted, it really shines plugged in, the Cool Tube technology is great, I've had the guitar more that 2 years and use it almost everyday. While the neck is somewhat thinner and narrower than my classical guitars, the transition to playing this instrument in both classical and jazz, even bossa nova is without undue hardship. The built in tuner is excellent, the 4 AA batteries give you about 15-20 hrs, but UNPLUG it from the amp when not in use, otherwise they run down quickly. I found the technical info from takamine wanting, but they do build a quality instrument and this is not exception, I have a Ramirez 2ce (cutaway electric) and this TC1135sc is my everyday guitar, I can't see where a Taylor nylon string would be any better.

Yamaha CG171SF Flamenco Guitar (Standard) Review

Yamaha CG171SF Flamenco Guitar (Standard)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried this on a Guitar Center store, next to $1200 guitars imported from Spain, and I've got to tip my hat to the Yamaha. It's got the flamenco sound right of the bat. Next to it, I couldn't tell the difference between another expensive 'flamenco' guitar from an expensive classical. The CG171SF seems to have its own peculiar flamenco sound. Really low action (great for falsettas), and it can get loud at the same time. Feels pretty light which makes you think it'll break! Highly recommended.

Cordoba C5-CE Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar, Black Review

Cordoba C5-CE Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned this guitar for a few months and I can only say positive things about it.
I'm not a highly skilled player myself but I can recognize a fine instrument like this when I play it.
The construction and overall finish is beautiful. Very solid, doesn't feel like is going to break in your hands even if you treat it like a solid body guitar...
Great sound, as an acousting, even when it has a thin body, or plugged into an amp or PC interface.
Althoung the action is a little high, you will find this beauty very easy to play due to its kind of thin neck.
The tuner works great as it's very precise. Also the internal pick up does a great job, but don't forget to turn it off after tuning because it eats the 9volts battery very quick.
The cut-away makes it great for high pitch shreding not possible in normal acoustics... and, I have to say, the tuning is still great down in the last frets.
I would really recommend this guitar for beginners and very skilled ones as well.

Yamaha CG182S Spruce Top Classical Guitar Review

Yamaha CG182S Spruce Top Classical Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Very pleased. I had an entry level Yamaha Classical with cedar top in the past which I felt was good quality, and I'm satisfied with this upgrade as well. I wanted to try a spruce top this time for a different tone. It has a nice tone and is a nice looking guitar in my opinion. When you get into $1000's for concert quality instruments, I'm sure you will find instruments with better projection, etc.; but for the money this is what I was expecting and hoping for: a solid classical guitar with spruce top and nice tone, which I can enjoy for practice and playing in front of small groups. I'm also satisfied with the extent to which the instrument stays in tune. I would eventually like to try other features on a classical guitar--jumbo frets and/or scalloped fretboard (which are not standard features for classical guitars), as well as a seventh string for extension of the bass range. But for now, I believe the CG182S is a quality instrument in this price range, and it suits my purposes well.

I bought mine 11 years ago; it sounded great out of the case, but it has aged and mellowed beautifully. The sound is full, rich, and can play very loud or at a slight whisper -- with nothing lost as far as tone. The overtones are gorgeous, and notes will ring for a minute or two if left untouched. This is by far the best classical guitar for the money. You can't go wrong buying this masterpiece of craftsmanship; it's a work of art.

Cordoba 45F Classical Guitar Review

Cordoba 45F Classical Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my first nylon string guitar so please take my opinion in strife. I have been taking private guitar lessons and have been borrowing a guitar for a couple months from a friend. After a couple weeks of lessons, I was completely hooked on this instrument and knew that it was time for me to buy my own guitar. I have been playing this Cordoba for just a couple weeks now, but I know that this is a guitar that I can definitely grow into. I value tradition and I think that it is exceptional that my guitar was handmade in Spain. There are some blemishes (only noticeable from very close...you really have to be looking for them). I like knowing that my guitar is unique. These "blemishes" (I feel bad calling them that because they are really inconsequential) don't have any affect on the sound or the playability of the guitar.
As far as the technical specifications go, my teacher has confirmed that this guitar is as advertised online and I have been told from fellow players that this is a really high quality. Other opinions aside, it definitely feels lightweight and comfortable even for my novice hands. Can't wait to continue to learn with this guitar.

Giannini GWNC3 Cadiz Classical Guitar (Acoustic, Nylon) Review

Giannini GWNC3 Cadiz Classical Guitar (Acoustic, Nylon)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guitar in Rio de Janeiro where I was on vacation without one and wanted to buy a Brazilian guitar. The two primary manufacturers are Giannini and de Giorgio. I chose this model for $350 and have been happy and playing several models in the $200-600 range. The sound is great, tuning mechanism is ergonomically friendly, and it's beautiful. The only flaw is that I'm seeing some tiny flaking on the neck, something I can probably fix with some lacquer.

Cordoba C7 Classical Guitar, SP/IN Review

Cordoba C7 Classical Guitar, SP/IN
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, I should state for the record that I am a professional classical guitarist. For the past 15 years I have owned and played guitars by the late master luthier Thomas Humphrey almost exclusively (I concurrently owned a beautiful instrument by notable English builder Christopher Dean for about two years) all of which are near the $10,000 price range. I mention this only to establish the frame of reference by which I am reviewing the Cordoba C7.
I ordered the Cordoba C7 as a teaching guitar and I received it in record time (about 2 days from ordering). Aesthetically, the guitar is beautiful. The European Spruce top and indian rosewood (laminated) back and sides are really gorgeous for a $500 guitar. What I find most impressive is the sound quality and volume of the C7. The sound is deep, rich, "wet" and suprisingly full and round. This guitar can be pushed pretty hard and played fairly loud without breaking up, although the volume does seem to peak at a certain point compared to true concert guitars (again, it's only $500, what do you want?). The playability is outstanding and action very easy no matter what the string tension. I'm not sure how the folks at Cordoba do it, but they have managed to design and build a very impressive, REALLY good advanced student guitar (or entry level concert-quality guitar?) with fine materials for an unbelievable price.
I want to be careful not to over-state my praise for this guitar, but I have played guitars that sell for $1500-$2000 that do not sound this good. All of my comments and praise should be taken in the context of the price of this guitar. If you are looking for an amazing concert instrument to travel the world and record your Grammy award-winning CD, then this is probably not your guitar (although I would play a concert on this guitar if I had to). If you are looking for a great sounding and playing guitar as a "beater", travel or teaching instrument for an unbelievable price, you won't be disappointed here.
P.S. The case is a gig bag and not really review-worthy. It's solidly made with thick durable fabric, but it's still a gig bag. Overall, a really good guitar/bag package for a great price.

Great guitar! Appearance-wise it is pretty basic overall...no fluff. But, it is jam-packed with lots of great stuff. So easy to go from acoustic to heavy hitting electric with just a quick change of the volume switches. Stays in tune throughout and plays like it cost twice the price. I have absolutely no regrets buying this one. It is now my main axe for leading worship because of its extreme versatility. It's my first Godin guitar. Now I'm seriously considering buying a nylon model to compliment the A6.

Cordoba C10 Classical Guitar, CD/IN Review

Cordoba C10 Classical Guitar, CD/IN
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a really great guitar for the money, and definitely beats out the old Yamaha classical I used to have lying around. The solid woods were the biggest attractions for me in picking one up for myself, since my other old guitar is laminate I think so it sounds kinda stiff. But my C10 has a pretty and open sound and is very easy to play.
I saw the other review on here only giving this guitar "1 star", but it doesn't look like that person even tried out the C10 themselves (like they were sent a different guitar from Amazon?)- so i thought'd I'd put in my 2 cents since I can tell you i'm pretty pleased with mine!

The Cordoba C10 is another all solid wood guitar in the Iberia Series. With all solid Indian Rosewood back and sides and a solid Canadian Cedar or European Spruce top, the C10 has a deep and full-bodied tone reminiscent of vintage Spanish guitars. It also features a lightweight Spanish cedar neck with an Ebony fingerboard, standard scale length and nut width dimensions 650/52, and a nitrocellulose natural finish. The adjustable truss rod in the neck is the only exception to traditional Spanish design. Other details include a multi-layer Rosewood/Maple headstock veneer and an inlaid Mother of Pearl & Ebony "Esteso" weaved rosette inspired by a Domingo Esteso guitar of the 1920s.A Rosewood binding bordered by a red cherry stained Mahogany soundboard purfling compliments the vintage rosette. A Cordoba Polyfoam case with backpack shoulder straps is included."

I have had this guitar for a little over a month now. I have played one live show with it, and have recorded two songs in my studio with it. It is working like a champ. I have not really used the tuner, so I can't comment on it, but the sound is great. It's hard to find a classical guitar with a solid wood top (not plywood) that also has the electronics and cutaway for this price. I would recommend it to anyone.
