At first, I was very upset when my guitar arrived, as it was a left-handed model, when I had ordered a right hand version. Amazon was great, sending out my replacement righty guitar NEXT DAY FedEx! Price Paid: $110 (usually sells here for $225)
Sound: Sounds great! I was expecting a slight step up from other entry level guitars, but this sounds way better than I had figured it would. Very full deep sound from the solid spruce top.
Action/Playability: Very easy to play. It has taken me a few soungs to get used to the scale, as I had been using my daughters Jr. sized guitar, but once that was done, I have had no problems. The neck is straight and true, and the action is good.
Craftsmanship/Reliability: Very beautiful guitar. The tortoise binding gives this guitar an extra bit of class, and the wood is beautiful. As to reliability - I've only had it a short time, but it seems very solid.
Overall Rating: Five stars. I was hoping to get a nicer guitar than is typically available in my budget (I was planning to spend ~$125), and the sale on this Dean was just what I was looking for. Most in the lower price range are typically poorly made, or don't sound that good. Now, I can't say for sure that I would have bought this particular model if my budget had been $225, so maybe my review is a bit biased by the sale price I paid. Either way, I'm a very satisfied Amazon and Dean customer!

Silver Creek T-170 Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I had just finished reading the book "Clapton's Guitar" so you may understand why I was blown away by an all-solid wood 000/OM acoustic guitar for next to nothing.
Thinking I would tell my wife it was for "market survey" all the while I was secretly drooling over what might arrive. (I'm in the building end).
Back and sides were a beautiful straight-grained Indian Rosewood.
The top is maybe an "A" grade Engelmann top and is punchy like Adirondac Spruce.
The inside bracing and kerfing are clean and sans glue squeeze out.
The backstrip, inside the box, is a very tight-grained Spruce and looks perfect.
Bridge is cleanly done.
The mahogany neck feels slightly boaty with a "V" shape but still very playable.
String spacing is generous and it's easy to hit all the notes.
The neck is stained dark and has a volute,
both Martin style. No buzzing but after the action is lowered it will need a neck adjustment or vice versa.
Peghead Inlay looks CNC'd and is perfectly done.
The finish is gloss and is very well done and polished without the usual wavy lines prevalent in cheap and poorly done high-end guitars.
The Tuners remind me of small Waverly's.. But!
Frets are cleanly done but could use a polish.
The action is too high and the saddle should be replaced with a
Martin Saddle seated flat into the bridge slot and intonated.
The nut seemed fine.
All in all, setup aside, this guitar is awesome with beautiful Tone!
and plenty of 000 vibe!
I was able to coax some very sweet notes from this guitar!
Even with the stock strings.
Now for the bad part: I should of bought two!
All this for "Market Survey"!
Someone has to do it!

Silver Creek D-170 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)Well I have spent about about three weeks with my Silver Creek Dread and here are my thoughts -
Let me start out by saying if you think you are getting a Martin D-28 clone with this guy - You really are not.
I have read that the Silver Creeks are made in the same Chinese Factory as the Recording Kings - but with lesser appointments - and to be sold through one main retailer.
Out of the box the SC was playable and attractive and the Tone was not bad - So I will break down what I liked and what I did not like. Keep in mind this is my opinion!
1. First of all out of the box the guitar was playable - But Defiantly in need of a set up - action was pretty high past the third fret.
2. After looking up and down and inside and out the only imperfection I could find was about a dime size dust spot on the back under the Laquer - Quality control was a little lacking.
3. The Guitar comes with a Bone nut an saddle - The nut was cut very well but you might need to shave a little off the saddle.
4. The Headstock is a flat top/ Martin Style with a nice Flower Vase/ abalone inlay - Though I must say - after close inspection some of the Letters in Silver Creek are crooked.
5. The Tuners - I have read many complaints here - I find the Kluson knockoffs attractive and useable but again only time will tell.
6. The neck is solid Mahogany with a Dyed black rosewood fretboard - The Fret work seemed surpurb and I felt really shined - Nice Job!
7. The Bridge is solid Rosewood and again dyed black - Well placed and solid adherence to the top.
8. The top is Solid Sitka Spruce or possibly Englemann spruce! Very nice Grain - No run out - It does have vintage Toner applied - I like that - some folks don't.
9. The back and sides are solid Rosewood with very nice striping. Beautiful work with the exception of the blem I mentioned earlier.
10. The back and top are Bound with ivoroid binding - nice work done here. And some nice purfling on the top side.
11. The Rosette is "28" inspired and nicely done.
12. The pickguard is red tortise like and nicely cut- very Martin like.
13. Bridge pins are plastic - White/black dot and totally useable/ Think Gibson - End pin White/black dot totally secure.
14. Internal look over - Foward bracing - scalloped struts and some small wood shavings. Overall pretty clean.
15. Neck Shape - has been refered to as V - If its V - it is a Soft V - Feels more D shaped to me.
16. The Guitar has a nice Gloss finish - not over done like some users have mentioned - I would say on par with Martin Std series Guitars.
Presently I have it strung with Martin Lights - Sounds good but will probely experiment with other Strings.
Sound - Tone -- If your expecting Martin tones to come flowing out of the sound hole you might be a little disapointed. Though the volume and Bass on this model is decent - not really a Cannon though.
Bottomline - The Silver Creek has " Its own Tone" I am sure Great to some and so/so to others - Only you can decide.
I purchased this Guitar mainly because I wanted a well built Dreadnaught Guitar for a very affordable dollar - And If I had the extra money I would have with out a doubt put it into a Martin
Bottom line-- dollar for dollar I don't think you can find a Better Dreadnaught for the Price!!!!

Recording King Classic Series I Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (Rosewood, Black Finish) Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a bluegrass type drednaught that would cut through in a jam situation. I bough this for the solid spruce top an rosewood sides and back (laminated but thats fine with me). When I recieved it the action was way to high and the intonation was bad. If I rated it then it would have been a 3 but after I took the bone saddle off and filed it down and reshaped it a little the action and intonation were great, 5 minute fix! I have owned thousand dollar guitars and played a lot more ( taylors, martins, guild ect,) and this guitar is alive with sound, nice and punchy with good bass and great highs, just what I wanted and better than I expected for the price. the pickgaurd sucks but I took mine off and it looks good that way. If I start to scratch it Ill throw a cheap one on it.

Blueridge BR-140 Historic Dreadnaught Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)This guitar is easy to play and has a quiet fullness that's really nice when you don't want the guitar to step on the vocals. The price is coming down to more like where it belongs. The tuning keys are definitely a step above the ordinary - smooth and solid. One negative which maybe they've fixed (mine's five years old): It came with one undersized wooden shoulder-strap button, like a large string button, that fell out when the glue dried, and the hole is too large to replace it with a regular metal button. I keep meaning to re-glue the wooden button but just keep pushing it back in. What draws me most to this guitar is its soft, balanced sound.

It is light weight and very easy to hold and play. NO additional set-up required as far as I'am conserned. It has a loud crisp base and balanced treble sound. The bone nut and saddle give it a great sound. Action is low and easy to play. It sounds just as good through my acoustic amp. The 14:1 tuning keys hold the strings in tune and it is easy to treek the note when tuning. Would definately recommend you check this guitar out, as you may like it as well or better than guitars costing two or there times as much.

Silver Creek T-160 Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I've been playing a few years. Two years back I invested in a Martin EC00028, it is beautiful as you would expect for guitar priced over £2K. Having got used to the slightly wider fretboard on the Martin (1 & 3/4 inches as opposed to your standard 1 & 11/16" at the nut), I was looking for a similar sized cheaper guitar that I would be comfortable knocking around with on the beach or at parties etc.. My choices of guitars with this same fretboard dimentions was limited to say the least. In fact, there was only one other that fit the bill and pleased me asthetically (the name escapes me now).
So, about a year ago I called the only stockist of this make, which happened to be in the U.S, to order one. At the time it was priced at only $199.00, so I was happy to take the risk of not playing before I purchased (which can obviously be dodgey at the best of times). To cut a very long and irritating story short, the U.S shop refused to courier the guitar to the U.K. and the manufacturer was not able to supply direct from China. I had to first send the item from the shop in the U.S to a friend in Canada (which involved paying additional tax) and then from there to me in the U.K. By the time I had finished I had paid around £150 to get a $199 guitar to the U.K. What an idiot right? - Wrong!
Without doubt it has been my favourite guitar ever. I wouldn't swap it for my martin, but only because of the £'s involved. The build quality on mine is excellent and the woods used (solid top, back and sides!)are really quite outstanding for the price. The tones honestly match that of the martin. I tweeked mine a little, some decent strings and lowering the action a fraction and just loved it.
If you are looking for a guitar in this price range and like a slightly wider fretboard, buy this one, I've not come across anything at this cost to beat it. Genuinely a great bit of kit.
