Takamine TAN16C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Gloss Natural Review

Takamine TAN16C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Gloss Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Beautifully constructed and finished, amazing sound either acoustic or plugged.
This guitar is wonderful, just 2 weeks playing and it works very well. The woods give you a bright tone but sweet at the same time, the balance between bass and treble is wonderful. Very comfortable to play either with your fingers or with a pick.
When you play it acoustic it sounds incredible but when you plugged it is when you find its real value, the preamp itself sounds good but when you include the on board tube on the chain the sound is huge, sweetly compressed as only tubes can. No more boomy bass on a guitar, you can understand every detail. I have even played on some concerts with it and everyone at my band is amazed. Nice choice. I made an extensive research and found this like the one I was searching for... now that I own it, I can proudly say that I was right.
Recommended!!!

Takamine TAN15C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar Review

Takamine TAN15C Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've played guitar for about 15 years now. Everything from ambient to Latin music to metal. I was in the market for a new acoustic electric 3-4 years ago when I almost jokingly tried out the Takamine TAN15C at a small music store in Arizona. I say "jokingly" because I was looking to spend about half of what the Tak's price tag said. One chord and a run up the neck was all it took to know this guitar was different. Very different. I could play smoother, faster, and with more feeling, automatically. The unplugged tone was mindblowing. Clear, percussive, and clean, but still warm. The action felt like a top-end American Strat. I tried a couple of other high-end guitars in the shop, and nothing even came close. I broke out the credit card and have been in guitar-love ever since.
I later found out that the plugged-in tone is equally amazing, thanks to the high-end electronics and CoolTube technology. To this day, the superiority of this guitar versus any other make/model is very real. Not that I've played everything out there, and I still haven't found a TAN16C to compare it with; but I can honestly say that the dozens of guitars I've tried out since buying this one (most of which cost more) fail to even come close. I've searched for months to find a worthy backup guitar for gigs and alternate tunings, and one thing seems clear: I better just pick up another TAN15C. I'm spoiled for life.

Takamine G Series G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar Review

Takamine G Series G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This little guitar is fantastic. I'm a professional guitar teacher, a performing artist, and a guitarist that just likes to have a little fun with what he does and the New Yorker is everything I need and more. I was going to put a grand down on a Taylor, but this one stole my heart. Beautiful tone, great playability, and it's custom made for fingerstyle enthusiasts like myself (my specialty at work, on stage, and in the studio). The back is made up of two stunning pieces of rosewood and one gorgeous piece of quilted maple. The abalone is authentic and expertly inlayed. The bindings are made of real wood instead of cheap plastic. Even higher end guitars have plastic bindings. The neck is smooth and fast and the strings respond to anything I wish to throw at them. From foggy mountain break down, to Steve Howe's Mood for a day, to more mellow pieces like Baby Mine, this guitar does it all. My only suggestion, as with all guitars that don't already have them, is to add a quality set of Grover tuners, which I will be doing shortly. Mine has an incredibly slight buzz that will be taken care of as soon as it has been set up by an expert. It's so insignificant that I'm usually the only one who notices it, even when played in front of other highly skilled musicians. For $400 the New Yorker simply cannot be beat. It's the perfect addition to any fingerstyle guitarist's collection, and at that price it would be a stellar first instrument that the owner would never grow out of.
I urge anyone who's interested to play it for themselves and make up their own mind about it. Just because it won out over a Taylor for me, doesn't mean it will for someone else.

G Series NEX Flamed Maple Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

G Series NEX Flamed Maple Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are into fingerstyle blues - this Korean made Takamine guitar is a great place to start. It features a well matched spruce top, laminated maple sides and back and an excellent electronic system that includes a tuner. The tone on this model is "old blues" with just a hint of brightness...but is missing just a little mid range, however this is something that should improve with playing. The violin burst finish is matte in texture and in color has that old faded blues box look. The neck is in a mild v shape, 14 frets accessible, with a nut width of 1 11/16. If you have big fingers, perhaps further research into guitars with nut widths of 1 3/4 would be in your interest, but I have found it to be comfortable.
I bought it to replace another guitar that I had outgrown and have found this to be an excellent intermediate choice. Perfect for learning fingerstyle blues.
The only negatives is that the back and sides are maple laminate and this model lacks a cutaway. However, for the cost this is a good value and if you feel the need for a cutaway - Takamine makes this model with the same finish plus the cutaway.
Recommended and good value for what you will spend!!!!

The guitars of the Keystone Series are the working musician's best friend. The Dreadnought is the keystone of the acoustic guitar world - metaphorically speaking. That's why Takamine has named its family of traditional (and not-so-traditional) Dreadnoughts the Keystone Series. The EF360SC Dreadnought Guitar starts with a hand selected solid spruce soundboard, voiced to classic Dreadnought perfection. Add a solid rosewood back and rosewood sides and you've got an instrument that's ready for any stage or studio. The Takamine EF360SC is equipped with the CT4B Preamp, a warm-sounding 3-band graphic with an extremely stable and accurate chromatic tuner. Great for non-standard and open tunings. EF508KC NEX Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (Koa) Review

EF508KC NEX Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar (Koa)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned this guitar about a year. It was very difficult for me to buy an acoustic electric guitar. I have been playing for over 15 years a hand made classical guitar which was made in the mid 1950s. As you can imagine, a brazilian wood guitar with aged wood of over 50 years is going to have an incredible tone to it and it does. I read online about guitars and was pretty sure I was going to buy a Taylor guitar. However when I went to the store I tried several of them costing several thousand dollars but I really wasn't all that impressed. I wanted a guitar that I simply sat down and played and to be blown away by it (not amplified).
I accidently read about this guitar and several people who own Taylor guitars said this is better than the Taylors they currentlly own. So, I went back to the store and tried this, I noticed immediately that this was better sounding and looking than any of the others I tried. Also, the on board tuner is fabulous, I wouldn't do without it now. It especially turned me on to trying alternative tunnings as it is so easy to get back to the regular one.
Also, the great KOA sound without the $2000.00 + price tag. A keeper.

Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar Review

Takamine GS330S Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was my first nice guitar that I ever had, I received it as a birthday present one year and have now owned it and played it for roughly 4-5 years and it still sounds great. I have several other guitars that are more expensive and I keep coming back to this one the tone is rich and it is a very well rounded guitar good for playing anything from country to rock and roll... from strumming background to picking solos. The only thing that some may have an issue with is the fact that it is quite thick... I'm 6'1" and it still seems pretty big at times however the richness of the tone and overall responsiveness is just unmatched as far as I'm concerned. The pressure that the fret board requires to produce a clean note isn't like other acoustic guitars even with heavy strings it doesn't require you to kill your fingers in the process of playing which allows for hours of painless playing. I would give this guitar more stars if I could, invest in a guitar that will last and sounds good because it's pointless to go cheap and end up not liking it then buying another one until you end up with a bunch of cheap guitars that you don't like because you'll end up buying an nice one eventually anyway so save some money and buy this one and I guarantee you will love it for years to come I know I will.

Dean Performer Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Classic Black Review

Dean Performer Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Classic Black
Average Reviews:

I was looking for a good guitar in this price range and had narrowed it down between the Ibanez AEL10EBK and the Dean Performer E Acoustic Electric Guitar. They seemed pretty equivalent from their description. Originally I had decided on the Ibanez because it had an established name (I never heard of Dean) and the pickup it used was an established brand ( a Fishman Sonicore). By contrast the Dean had it's own pickup which I knew nothing about. I was about to buy the Ibanez but I wanted to hear it first. I went to a local music store and took it down to try out. To my surprise it sounded very shallow, wooden, and muddy. There was very little resonance to the instrument. It sounded almost like a solid body guitar. When you strum all the strings at the same time it sounds muddled. I plugged in the Ibanez and found it sounded the same way. It was muddled. You didn't hear the individual strings. Just an overall "blahhh". As it happens, another music store down the street had the Dean Performer E so just for kicks I went there to try it out. I was shocked by how beautiful it sounded for such an inexpensive guitar. The instrument resonated. You could hear each string brightly and clearly. When plugged into an amp the sound was bright, and full. I also found that the Dean had an "on-board" tuner with a graphic LED output that allowed you to tune the guitar instantly. This tuner is actually one of the best I have ever used. It tells you exactly when the string is in tune. It doesn't bounce around all over the place like other tuners I've used. I found from this experience that "name" isn't everything. Sometimes products from an established and well known company can under-perform newcommers. In this case that is exactly what I found. Needless to say I bought the Dean and have been very happy with it since.

Takamine ETN10C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar With Case, Satin T Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was wanting to purchase a higher end guitar and after trying out several and listening to several on YouTube I decided to purchase this Takamine. I already own a Tak 12 string and thought the sound was incredible for the price. This one I didn't actually play until after it arrived but I watched Brad Davis try it out on YouTube as my guide. I have owned Ovation, Alvarez and Ibanez in the past and am more satisfied with Takamine. The guitar was set up perfect right out of the case. No blemishes or scratches anywhere and perfect action, very low set and a fast neck. The sound is incredible off amp as well as on. It has a very strong low end and mixes perfect with the the mids and highs. Great for strumming and picking. I couldn't believe how awesome this guitar sounds everytime I pick it up. I still play mostly without the amp and like classic rock, christian contemporary and ballads that use a classical style of play. This holds up with the best of them. It is a bit plain in appearance which is why I chose the Tobacco Burst; mine is a bit darker than the pic. The pic appears sort of orangey and mine is a bit more of a darker Tobacco Burst which I like. No pick guard and a satin finish not a gloss so the wood sounds are not impaired and will improve as the wood ages. These natural woods sound great. It has a solid cedar top and solid sapelli/mahogany back. I have alway had spruce or maple tops before and must admit the cedar sound is more to my preference for the lows. I paid $929 including the case through Amazon which is a deal since most everywhere else was $100 to $150 more. I got a better sounding guitar than Taylor or Martin puts out unless I wanted to go $1000 more and most all of their guitars in this price range were all laminates or occassionally a solid top but that was it. Very pleased with this purchase and is the best sounding acoustic I have owned yet....beats my former Ovation Legend and I loved that guitar.

Acoustic sound set free. The Takamine Natural Series ETN10CTBS was conceived to give you the biggest and widest acoustic sound possible. Features a solid cedar top, solid sapele back, a thin satin finish and no pickguard - anything that could possibly impede the vibration of the soundboard was purposely left out. The theory works. Naturals are so alive with sound that they nearly jump out of your hands. The clean and simple approach of the Naturals has been imitated by other makers, but nothing yet has compared to the purity of style - and sound - of the original. The Takamine ETN10CTBS is equipped with the warm-sounding CT4B preamp. The CT4B preamp features a 3-band graphic EQ with an extremely stable and accurate chromatic tuner. Great for non-standard and open tunings. Washburn WD10 Series WD10SCE Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Washburn WD10 Series WD10SCE Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently picked this up for a cheaper guitar to take around. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend for a beginner, or anyone that needs a great playing guitar under $300 dollars. You are not going to find another guitar with the action, plus a cheap pickup for $250. IMHO, this is a great deal.
Plus:
Great Action/Playability
Comes with a cheap Fishman Pickup
I think Washburn's have a good even tone (high's/low's are generally balanced IMO).
Nice Look/sound for price range.
Minus:
This isn't a solid wood guitar. New guitars under $600 are mostly laminate sides and back to cut down on costs.
Like all guitars in this price range, there are plastic parts (nut, binding, pegs, etc.). To be expected.
Notes: Doesn't come with 2 pins for Guitar strap. This just means you have to get a strap that goes to head stock. Just a difference.

I bought this guitar for my wife last Christmas. It's priced a little higher than the low-end guitars, but the sound and feel of it really justify the price.
I myself play the guitar and have some experience with the feel and sound of a guitar. This particular one is really smooth, easy on the fingers, and the sound is excellent. As far as tuning the guitar, it definitely tunes very well and very easily.
I highly recommend this guitar - the price may be a little steep, but if you see it on sale anywhere, go for it.

I have had this guitar for a little over a month now. I have played one live show with it, and have recorded two songs in my studio with it. It is working like a champ. I have not really used the tuner, so I can't comment on it, but the sound is great. It's hard to find a classical guitar with a solid wood top (not plywood) that also has the electronics and cutaway for this price. I would recommend it to anyone. Yamaha CG192C Cedar Top Classical Guitar Review

Yamaha CG192C Cedar Top Classical Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yamaha builds a guitar that is efficient and easy to play. The construction is simple and clean. Now, that's sufficient for their entry level guitars (I picked up a Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar, Natural for less than one Ben Franklin - see my review), however, at 5x that amount, that just doesn't cut it anymore. This guitar has zero character. It hits all the notes without any issues, but the sound it produces can only be described as plain vanilla. For the beginning student that may be OK, but why spend the extra $ for this model when it sounds and plays pretty much the same as its lesser brethren? The better grade of materials used in this do not seem to translate into better sound quality - and isn't that why one would drop the extra $ in the first place?
If you want a classical guitar that hands-down produces a rich, wonderful tone that has character, I'm, afraid you'll have to drop some serious $ on a José Ramírez. At this price point, I'd shop around to try to find something that approaches the Ramírez sound - a tall order, for sure.
P.S. Don't bother with Takamine, either. I played one that was 2x the price of this Yamaha and, while it did have a better feel and produce a slightly better tone, the Japanese guitars just don't capture that wonderful Spanish guitar sound.
