This is my first Les Paul... I've owned two SG Standards and I must say, although extremely partial to them... This guitar has the the tones of your REAL guitar hero's... Or am I just getting to be a better player? I picked this little baby up for $600 via Craigslist (LUCKY!!!)... but any guitar is like a good woman, you need to try her out first... usually... but sometimes the stars align and fate makes it's match... All I'm trying to say is that nobody should doubt these Studios... They have THE tone, I keep looking down at my hand because I can't believe I'm making these sounds haha!! Only thing... no binding but hey, neither did the early 50's models, but the Fireburst is the coolest lookin' of them all, the second pick for me would be the Alpine White, especially because it's made in a different factory... Anyways, I see now WHY this guitar costs a little more than an SG Standard... It does just a little more than an SG standard... Love my new Baby!!!

Originally designed as a model for studio artists but adopted by countless players of all stripes, the no-nonsense Les Paul Studio electric guitar combines stripped-down appointments with the full tonal splendor and unrivaled playability of a Les Paul Standard--and at a more affordable price. It features a fat and sweet maple-and-mahogany tone from its two genuine Gibson humbucking pickups and it looks great in a Fireburst finish with gold hardware.

This was my Christmas present to myself last year & my wife is jealous. She is tired of me saying "I love this guitar"! Read all the reviews that I could find online and when I went to the 2 local music stores (SA & GC) they didn't have any to play, so I bought without playing. Since it arrived, it has lived up to everything I've read. Right out of the box the appearance is rich with the gold tuners, pearl inlays (I have the sunburst finish). The sound is beatiful, warm, sustaining...and with the hole cover & A.R.T. system, I can plug into the amp & not worry about feedback. Use to play out quite regularly before the kids, but then took a 10 yr. hiatus. We've gotten 'the band back together' for a few gigs the past yr or so & have some coming up so I can't wait to play this puppy live! The onboard tuner & EQ are sweet and allow me to control everything at the guitar, not having to go back & forth to my amp. I would highly recommend for the money. I've played with the Martins & Taylors in the $1500 range & this is definitely of that class of quality. You won't be disappointed!Yamaha CPX900 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Brown Burst

After spending hours testing out guitars at guitar Center I picked this up and instantly loved it. Altough I wasnt looking for a guitar in this price range I fell in love with it and couldnt go back to the other guitars. I looked at others in the same price range and I couldnt stop comeing back to it. The looks are cool and the modern style is cool even though its not what I usually like. The guitar had really great balance ("weight relieved" body), and the 60's style neck just topped off the great clean sound this gutiar makes. One big factor while looking for a guitar was the balance and most just didnt add up some where top heavy or vice versa. This one on the other hand was very well balanced. I own a 1960's silvertone harmony and the les pauls neck really was identical in style. I love this guitar! Stock settings are awesome but if you know someone who can adjust your guitar like a perfesional Luthier the guitar will sound that much better. Its well worth the money and if adjusted properly can sound and feel like you paid double for it.

The Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar has become one of the most desired Les Paul guitars for its tremendous harmonic and sonic capacities. The studio guitar is coveted by musicians from all genres of music and offers Les Paul performance with a modern, no-frills attitude. This Silverburst edition is lighter weight and offers a distinct look and modern features. The Les Paul Studio guitar marries a lightweight chambered mahogany back to a maple top. The mahogany set neck has a 22-fret fingerboard that is constructed from high-grade rosewood. The flatter 12" fingerboard radius promotes smooth note bending and eliminates dead or choked out notesa common occurrence on rounder, smaller radius fingerboards. The Les Paul Studio guitar's '60s neck profile is slim tapered emulating the neck shapes of the 1960 Les Paul Standard. The Les Paul Studio Guitar shares the same quality electronics as some of its more expensive siblings. The Gibson 490R pickup has the tonal characteristics of an original PAF, but with a slight increase in upper mid-range response. The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490 pickup's ideal complement. Taking the 490 one step further, the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet with an Alnico V, thus making it a slightly hotter pickup with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. The pole pieces on the 498T are also aligned a little further apart to accommodate the spacing of the strings at the bridge. Both pickups can be split via push/pull volume controls.

The Schecter Omen-4 4-String Bass Guitar has active electronics, 6-bolt neck attachment, solid basswood body, deluxe tuners, and Diamond bass pickups. 2 volume and 2-band EQ, maple neck with rosewood fretboard and jumbo frets. This is an absolutely killer bass for the price. I prefer the walnut satin color over the gloss black, for there are no fingerprint stains made on the body as compared to the gloss black which would be chock' full of them after a day's worth of use. Perfect for beginner, intermediate level, and professional bass players alike, also a killer price!!! [...]

Traveler Guitar Escape EG-2 Electric Travel Guitar (White, Deluxe Gig Bag) Review

Traveler Guitar Escape EG-2 Electric Travel Guitar (White, Deluxe Gig Bag)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This mini-strat fills the bill for me as a travel guitar. It will fit in a 29" suitcase, diagonally in its guitar case. It a 27" suitcase it will fit only with out the included case.
High points: The guitar has a nice tone, very close to to that of a Fender Stratocaster. It appears to be well made with decently low action. Intonation on the upper frets is good. The quality of the tuners and bridge and workman ship all appear good. There were no visible flaws. The aux input and headphone jack were the key features for me beside its full size neck in a small travel size.
It stays in tune almost as well as my American made Strat.
Low points: The aux input was loose, I unscrewed is mounting, and tightened the nut while holding the aux jack so it wouldn't turn as I tightened it. The Pocket Rocket feature will drain the included battery in 1 day if left on. Mine arrived with a dead battery. The guitar case could use a second strap so it can be carried like a back pack.
Other than that, I'm quite satisfied. I'd rate it B to B+.

Electro-Harmonix HOG Synthesizer Review

Electro-Harmonix HOG Synthesizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got my HOG today, and although I cant give a thorough review of the product I will give you mi first impressions.
I cant give a thorough review mainly because this is an instrument in itself and will require months of use to master it... perhaps years! I own a Micro Synth and it is far less complicated and it took me a whole year to really get comfortable with it, and I'm still learning new sounds and new techniques each time I use it.
Unlike the Micro Synth this is polyphonic and tracks full chords. However I've found that it tracks 3 strings better, sometimes 6 string chords fart out a little.
Picking chords quickly can also produces some unwanted motor-boating. But with the right setting and the right technique it sounds pretty awesome, and they arent hard to do. I'm not that great of a guitar player and I found it right off.
The expression pedal makes it the most fun of all. Freeze + Gliss being the most notable.
Now I can do away with my crappy Jim Dunlop volume pedal and I dont have to get the EHX Freeze (since this has both functions).
Over all its pretty easy to use and very noob friendly.

MTD Kingston The Artist Bass Guitar (4 String, Fretless, Transparent Blue)
Average Reviews:

I was new to bass guitars 2 Years ago, so I decided to up the bar with my MTD Kingston Fretless 4 string before I became proficient on a fretted 4 string bass.
I ordered mine online, and only prayed that it was what it promoted it was in the online display..
After getting my package via ground, I opened up the box, and picked it up carefully looking for any flaws.
There weren't any ! remarkably, it was all but one string being 1/4th a cent off ..IN TUNE !!!(It shipped from Phoenix ! ).
It arrived with round-wounds on it,and played and sounded so special..I am a front of house engineer for national acts, and my ears don't lie ! !
I could hear the pores in the wood..a majestic bowing swell accompanied every nuance.
I travel all over the World with my work, and will always check out a local music store, and look for new manufacturers,or exceptional instruments as a comparison to playability, sound, and looks.
Michael Tobias has a extraordinary ability to combine all the elements in one package. His work will stand tall with any world class performer,or Luther.
Wanna be inspired? Just play one...the proof is in the puddin' as they say..
I wouldn't even consider looking for another Fretless bass
Way to go Mike ! You are Tha' MAN !

Gold Tone Paul Beard Signature Series PBR-D Roundneck Resonator Deluxe Guitar (Tobacco Sunburst) Review

Gold Tone Paul Beard Signature Series PBR-D Roundneck Resonator Deluxe Guitar (Tobacco Sunburst)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I play mostly electric guitar and bass in a hobby originals band that I would characterize as post-punk/alt-rock. I have 20+ guitars but none are acoustic, so I have been searching for several months for a decent one in the under 400$ range. I have been very disappointed with the anemic sounds of even the +1000$ models from all the usual makers. I was shocked that a 1200$ Martin wasn't even all real wood! Sitting in the corner with the mandolins and banjos was a lone dobro (specifically, a Goldtone by Paul Beard - Resonator Deluxe Model- I never heard of either brand); since I had never even held one before I tried it out of curiosity. The first thing I noticed was that it felt SOLID and HEAVY, and had a very satisfying feel to it. I banged out my three open chord test song and I IMMEDIATELY knew I was not leaving the store without this guitar. This was exactly the full, LOUD, rich bass yet twangy sound I was looking for. The sound I remember from decades ago playing my friends dreadnought Martin. An unmistakably distinctive resonator metallic edge to it, but that was almost a plus. I imagine playing with a slide and/or fingerpicks would markedly accentuate those tonal features, but bare finger picking and strumming and flatpicking with a little palm mute produced a sound that gave me butterflies in my stomach. Plucked harmonics sounded better than most hot electrics or chicken picked teles. The dynamic range was incredible, and I sensed that this thing PROJECTS if you are in front of it. I can't wait to experiment with mic'ing techniques to capture that sound.
The build quality and materials seemed excellent to me; I detected no flaws in construction and the attention to detail was apparent. The finish was a little heavy on the poly, especially on the very thick, 'round n bound' neck, but the days of nitro are gone, and this axe did have the shine of a new Bently. The sealed tuners look Grover-ish but say "Jinks", which for some reason makes me laugh whenever I read it. The neck is very playable, even for an electric guy, but I think my bass muscles have something to do with it. To get the tone I was looking for the old fashioned mechanical way takes heavy gauge strings, and the surprisingly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful gut at the Hempstead Long Island Sam Ash recommended heavier treble strings than you might use on an acoustic. As far as the wood type, i only know from the web to be maple/ebony with tobacco sunburst. I have no idea where its made; the serial number/model number sticker in the cavity doesn't say. Other reviews are sketchy; I pulled this from the Mando Bros site's quote of the maker's site (which, strangely enough I have not visited since it was not on the first page results of my Google query;)---"Designed by legendary maker Paul Beard, this signature model guitar is hand made and provides unmatched tone in its price range. The Beard "open" soundwell body design utilizes genuine USA Beard cones & spiders...(and) feature USA assembly and setup by experienced luthiers..."
Price was $499 with OHSC (this was a spotless used guitar; MSRP seems to be around $1100 for the deluxe which I think just has inlay and binding; the standard is obviously less. Street price in my brief survey is 600-800$) I haggled the guy down another fitty dollas which felt extra nice.
Anyway, I'm giddy with delight that I finally found what I was after. Enuf now I'm going to play.

After reading some of the reviews for this item I decided to try it over a G&L Legacy. With the coil tapped electronics option along with the humbuckers it sounded like a very versatile guitar. Well, I just opened the package and WOW, I saw brown all over a Black Vapor finish on what I cant even be sure is really flamed maple. The binding has what appears to be black dye on it in places and shows a small crack around the neck joint and the access covers look like they were cut out with a dull butter knife. And the fret markers, some fit, some dont. And I didnt expect to see that it was made in China. I really lost all interst in even plugging it in. Perhaps I'll plug it in and see if the sound quality is better than the material and build quality. But not right now, I'm that frustrated.

I don't think I've ever purchased a bass that was perfectly tuned and set up right out of the box. Amazing! The workmanship is excellent with no noticeable flaws. Intonation is perfect. Fret, string, and bridge height is perfect. I can honestly say I would change nothing with the set up. the neck is thin and fast, though the headstock bumps my hands on "F" notes on the 1st string. (Probably my bad technique more than a bass flaw). The active electronics produce a range from punchy funk to mellow ballads. When pushed, she puts out a mild distorted sound with everything on "11". Great color. Great bass. Great price. If you are on the fence, buy this bass. If your experience was anything like mine, you won't be sorry.

Seeing the lack of a review for this product, I'll try to help you guys out. I've owned a Tribute Legacy for about 3 years now, and I've always loved it. I sold a Fender (MIM) Deluxe Super Strat to get it, and I've never looked back. This guitar is what the Fender Standard Strat wishes it could be, for the same price. The quality and cut of the maple used for the neck is far superior, The USA made alnico pickups sound much better than the standard Fender pickups or even the Tex-Mex pickups. The two-point fulcrum tremolo is much more usable, easier to set up, has better tuning stability, and a higher mass block for more sustain. And the Korean build quality is great, at least as good as the recent Japanese Fenders. I've owned a lot of Fenders, and always liked them, but I would put the Tribute Legacy up against any MIM or MIJ Fender and even the USA Highway 1 series. Great Guitar... only $499?? Get two!!
