I've had this guitar for about a year and I love it. Plays better than many guitar that cost twice as much. I paid $130 for mine. First Act website is selling it for $149 at the time of this review. Great action, D shape neck. Built in distortion sounds very good. You can get a lot of sounds out of this guitar w/ the V-Stack built-in. Great guitar for a beginner or anyone on a budget. I would have no reservations about gigging with this guitar.

IJX40 Electric Guitar Jumpstart Package (METALLIC RED) Review

I was pretty excited when I got the bix box in the mail whipped out the guitar. I actually got a really slick blue with my starter pack. Then my joy began to fall into dissappointment. The tuner was incredibly difficult to use for someone who has never played guitar before, I even had a music teacher tell me to go out and buy a new one. Then I went to online support with Ibanez for the promised lessons, they weren't there. Six months later they still aren't. I had to buy a book with a cd to start the learning process, dispite the promises of Ibanez. Then the really cheap gigbag straps broke when I had it on my back dropping my guitar on the ground. I now have the bag held together by paper clips. I still like the guitar but I still won't recommend this starter pack. I went to a local guitar center around me and they said this is typical of Ibanez, which is why they recommend stratacasters.Ibanez Jumpstart IJX20BKN

Hagstrom Viking Electric Guitar (Tobacco Sunburst) Review

Hagstrom Viking Electric Guitar (Tobacco Sunburst)

What a wonderful guitar. For the money you simply cannot find an equal, in my opinion. Mine came set up very nicely with no needed adjustments. Fit and finish was flawless. Stays in tune extremely well - played a gig with it the first weekend I got it and did not have to re-tune a single time. I cannot see paying an extra $2000 for the Gibson name. Truly makes no sense unless name is that important to you. For what it's worth, I just found out that it was a Gold Level award recipient for Overall Value by Guitar World Magazine.
I have been playing for 25 years and have owned/ played a lot of guitars - PRS, Fender Strats, Parker, Gibson ES-335, Peavey HP Special (top of the line & another great, yet underrated guitar), Godin 5th Avenue, Martin D-28, Ibanez, and others I cannot think of right now. This is a guitar that I will most likely never get rid of. My only criticism is that they should price it to include a hardshell case, which I had to order separately ($95).

Sterling by Music Man RAY35-NT Bass (5 String, Natural) Review

Sterling by Music Man RAY35-NT Bass (5 String, Natural)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first heard about the new Sterling by Music Man basses on YouTube. I liked what I heard, so I went to my local music store and played the Ray34. I was very impressed. It sounded just like a USA Stingray, but was about half the price. I also tried the SB14, which sounded very good as well. I wanted to try the Ray35 but they didn't have it in stock. So I did some more research, and most people had good things to say about the Ray35. I decided to order it from Amazon. After about a week, it finally arrived. My Ray35 has a natural finish, and it looks great. The action was too low when I first took it out of the box, but I was able to fix that with the allen wrench that was supplied with the bass. The bass sounds and feels wonderful, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for the sound and feel of a US-made Music Man bass at an affordable price.

B.C. Rich Kerry King Signature V Guitar, Black with Original Tribal Graphic Review

B.C. Rich Kerry King Signature V Guitar, Black with Original Tribal Graphic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this guitar!
It exceeded my expectations in every way. Where to start?
This neck-through design, shape, and feel of the guitar is amazing. The neck construction is very tight and smooth. Binding would just get in the way. Its very smooth.
The frets and action on this guitar are low and fast. I love low action, and the Kerry King Signature V didn't disappoint. It so easy to hit harmonics when you want to, and the size of the frets are perfect for speed.
The abalone tribal inlays were one of the biggest surprises of the guitar. They are high quality abalone shaped in the KK tribal pattern and are very colorful when the light hits them. The pictures don't do them justice.
The best part of the neck, beside the headstock that just looks demonic in real-life, is the ebony fretboard. I've always been very picky on the fretboards I play on and was concerned about some other Ebony fretboards I've seen. However, it is simply AMAZING on this guitar. The Ebony is smooth, no discoloration, and the perfect curve for playing fast. Bright when you want it, chunky when you need it. I just can't get over how happy I am with the ebony fretboard.
The sound of the guitar is pure evil. Fast and heavy. It has a deep growl that you can feel pushing air when you play on a half-stack. Between the EMG pickups, the Kahler tremolo, and my personal favorite, the PA2 preamp, you can get some insane heavy sounds.
The PA2 preamp is great. It gives a 20db boost and when you hit it on, you can hold a note in a long sustain pretty much forever. Its perfect for over-the-top solos.
The look is amazing. Again, the picture don't do it justice. The guitar I received had a black Kahler tremolo instead of the chrome one you see in the pictures. I didn't specifically ask for a black, maybe that's how they're all made now. However, it gives it a much harder look. I haven't had any issue with the tremolo after restringing with 10 gauge and down-tuning a 1/2 step. The beveled edges give it a more white outline look to it in the pictures, its much darker looking in normal light.
Again, the sound is awesome.
I really just can't get over how cool this guitar is. I'll admit, I'm a SLAYER fan, and if you want that same heavy, evil sound... this is the guitar.

This is a Signature King axe for a reason! Top end parts like a Kahler tremolo, Grover tuners and EMG active pickups help deliver all the roaring tone Kerry King is famous for. While a Kerry inspired tribal graphic adorns the beveled edge top.

Quality ConstructionKing's Signature V features a maple body for a nice, even tone--even at monster volumes. The hard maple neck with through-body design means serious sustain, and the ebony fretboard is graced with abalone tribal inlays.

This axe doesn't skimp on hardware either, with Grover Mini-Rotomatic tuning machines and the flat-top Kahler tremolo bridge. Paired with killer electronics, this V is definitely ready to live up to the Kerry King legacy.

Beveled TopMost of B.C. Rich body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.

Neck-Through ConstructionB.C. Rich is known as one of the pioneers in Neck Through construction. They utilize it on many of their guitars, because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high end guitars. This construction starts with premium North American maple or Mahogany and runs from the tip of the headstock to the end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows us to cut away more of the body and neck at the neck joint which provides comfort that no bolt-on or set-neck could offer. You will find the neck through feature on all of our top of the line B.C. Rich models.

EMG Active PickupsIn the bridge position, the Signature V boasts an EMG-81, a high-output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.

An EMG-85 is in the neck position. Although the EMG-85 has more measurable output than the 81, its frequency response and string interface are different. The 85 uses two Alnico magnet loaded coils with a wide aperture to maintain a beefy lowend and a fatter top end. Because of a more natural tone, it works great as a rhythm and blues pickup because it has loads of output but isn't muddy.

Kahler TremoloThe Kahler 7300 flat mount series locking/floating tremolo system is designed to drop onto any flat top guitar. All 7300 series models include onboard fine tuners and 6 way adjustable saddles: side to side for perfect string spacing; front to back for accurate intonation and up or down for ultimate action and radius matching.

Grover Mini-RotomaticsThese precision machines fit guitar headpieces that will not take full size machines. The mini buttons provide more space for players' fingers (even larger fingers) to tune strings. Gear ratio is 14:1. Sealed-in lubrication keeps Mini-Rotomatics perfect for a lifetime.

Recording King Classic Series II Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (Mahogany) Review

Recording King Classic Series II Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (Mahogany)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This has solid wood spruce top, solid mahogany neck, back, and sides. This is a copy of 1930's Martin D-18. As such it is a dream come true. I am 56 years old and have had many acoustic guitars before. I have never had a Martin but I have played them. I have owned Ovations and Alvarez and Epiphone. All good reasonably priced guitars. I do have a $1200 Gibson ES-333 hollow body so I know quality when I see it and touch it and play it. I just got this guitar and it is wonderful. The action is not too low but just right for me considering it is an acoustic. It is very similar to the Alvarez Professional Model 5224 that I bought about twenty years ago. It sounds very similar also and the Alvarez solid spruce top has aged nicely. This guitar will only get better. If you are afraid of the Chinese I don't know what to say. The label says handcrafted designed in U.S.A. made in China. The factory where this is made is home to many good guitars. You won't find a solid wood guitar at a price like this anywhere else. I will never sell this guitar and it is very well made so it should last me the rest of my life. I don't care about resale value anyway. If you are on the fence go ahead and buy one you WILL NOT REGRET IT.

When I bought this product at guitar center, i thought i was taking home a quality product. What actually happened was after a week of playing it, the whammy bar fell out and took some parts with it and that was a $100 repair and a month after that the head snapped and that was much more expensive. After that, I sold it on craigslist for a fraction of what i paid for it. Terrible product. Not to mention, it's looks really ugly with the floyd rose

Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar: Improving the StandardFor nearly six decades now, Gibson's Les Paul Standard has stood the test time as the most playable electric guitar in the world. While others have attempted to imitate it, none have come close to duplicating the qualities of this legendary guitar. Yet each year, Gibson attempts to improve on the world's best guitar. This time, it's with the new Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar from Gibson Custom.
More than Just Different: Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar The Les Paul Axcess Standard is more than just "different." It's the result of Gibson's drive to build the best Les Paul Standard possible, while staying true to the design and performance of the iconic Les Paul electric guitars of the past. The new Les Paul Axcess Standard from Gibson Custom carries all the elegant styling, fluid body lines and rocking attitude of a classic Les Paul Standard from the golden era of the late 1950s. Upon closer examination, however, the Les Paul Axcess reveals a handful of upgrades--all modifications made in the name of maximum playability and versatility. As Gibson Custom Operations Manager Michael McGuire puts it, "Everything about this Les Paul has been designed to make it a player's 'player's guitar.' From the easy access to its upper range to the comfortable belly scarf to the Floyd Rose vibrato, this instrument was made to give you optimum performance."
Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard Features a Distinctive Floyd Rose Vibrato The most noticeable addition to Gibson's Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar is the Floyd Rose tailpiece, a unit optimized for anything from subtle vibrato wobbles to dramatic, rumbling divebombs. Adding a Floyd Rose to a Les Paul in the past was always a major undertaking, and one that could seriously damage the stability of the instrument if not done right. On the Les Paul Axcess, the vibrato is installed right at Gibson Custom as part of the manufacturing process, which means this potent piece of high-performance hardware interacts seamlessly with the design of this electric guitar. Partnered with an R4 locking nut, it also guarantees fantastic tuning stability and return-to-pitch accuracy.
Contoured Neck for Upper Fret Access on the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard Electric Guitar If you take the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar and run your fingers up the neck, you'll encounter the clever structural alteration that gives this new model its name: While the Axcess sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Les Paul neck joint, the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel, and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. What does this mean? No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands--the Axcess gives you that legendary Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, welcoming you to take it right over the top. Comfortable Ribcage Contour To further enhance playing comfort, this smoothly carved neck joint is combined with a "belly scarf" (aka ribcage contour) that allows the body of the electric guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Refreshingly Light Body Style The Les Paul Axcess's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany (with carved maple top), gives you an instrument that is refreshingly light and a pure joy to play, either strapped on or in a seated position. Optimum Tone Setup The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard electric guitar is also geared toward optimum tone, as you'd expect from any Gibson Custom creation. Exposed-coil BurstBucker 1 and BurstBucker 2 pickups in the neck and bridge positions--the most accurate reproduction vintage-PAF-style humbuckers Gibson has ever offered--yield everything from warm, fluid vocal tones to fat, sweet growl, while an added push/pull switch on the treble Tone knob provides coil splitting for accurate single-coil tones. These unique tonal combinations excel at delivering everything from singing classic rock lead tones to contemporary crunch to extremes of twang and jangle. Even the pure-nickel wound .10-.46 Gibson Vintage Strings it ships with contribute toward its rich, textured voice. As my first ukulele and as a fairly inexperienced musician I unfortunately cannot give specs such as "action was right on" or anything of that technical nature. I can say the instrument is absolutely beautiful. All of my musician friends are thoroughly impressed and much joy has been shared passing her around the room. She sounds great amped and even I have convinced her to make some music. Not only that but it feels good to support a company like Luna. I am very, very happy with my choice and am planning on buying one of the smaller luna ukes to keep at work for practice.

I like to play metal, and "palm mutting" swet has erase part of the dark color in the Floyd Rose Bridge 1 mounth after I received the guitar. I recomend to buy a guitar with a silver Floyd Rose. I like dark the most, but I never thought it would miss the color that fast...
If you don't know or have somebody who can help you to tune the floating tremolo, is better thinking to buy other kind of tremolo, it's a big pain in the butt.
I have a Les Paul (double brass pick ups), a '63 Fender Jaguar (double couple of Seymour Duncan humbuckers), an this (EMG's 60 & 81 active pick ups), and it sounds very good, but I prefer the sound of the Les Paul, even for metal (but that's what I like). I have to recognise the LTD is amazing for shred, is lighter, softer and cheaper, also is better for play live stuff, is very versatile. Keep in mind that when you do palm mutting, if you put your palm against the floating bridge, the guitar can miss the tone

Just buy this guitar. You will not regret it. Best guitar I have ever had and sounds, looks, feels triple the price. No joke. I thought I liked my Schecter until I bought this beauty. GO PRS!!

The SE Singlecut is mahogany single-cutaway with a maple top and curly maple veneer. A 22-fret, wide-fat mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard adds to the rich tones of this instrument. The PRS designed treble and bass humbuckers give you a variety of great sounds for whatever style of music you play.

The SE Singlecut
PRS Perfection Within Reach The SE Singlecut features a maple top with flamed maple veneer, and is available in translucent finishes. These new models come with solid mahogany backs and necks and provide a level of quality not seen in guitars in this price range.
Wide Fat Neck The Wide Fat neck has the same nut width as the Wide Thin neck but has a big comfortable profile, similar to PRS's Regular neck. Because of its strength and longer "heel," the Wide Fat neck produces warm tones with lots of sustain.
PRS Stoptail Bridge Designed to take full advantage of the resonant properties of their guitars, PRS's Stoptail Bridge provides direct transmission of string vibration to the guitar body and makes set-up a breeze. First used in 1991 on the PRS Dragon I guitar, it now appears on almost half of all PRS guitars sold. This bridge features slots that recess the strings comfortably as they pass over the top, in a gentle curve. Although it is pre-compensated for modern string gauges, fine-tuning is possible by adjusting the set screws at each end of the bridge.
SE Singlecut Available Colors The SE Singlecut is available in Cherry Sunburst, Gray Black, and Tobacco Sunburst finishes.
Finish PRS finishes their instruments with a polyester basecoat and acrylic urethane topcoat. Acrylic urethane looks and feels the closest to the old nitro-cellulose finishes but without the finish checking.
The PRS Mission Statement Guitar building is an ongoing process of discovery. We are devoted to the guitar's rich heritage while committed to new technologies that will enrich our products with uncompromised tone, playability and beauty. Our success depends on our ability to listen, implement positive change and continually refine our craft.

I started playing in 1975 and until now, never owned a Telecaster. I should have pushed long ago for this Gem! If you love guitar playing, do yourself a favor, and buy a Fender Telecaster!

Nice guitar! I fell in love with this guitar when I first saw it. Sound is nice although it may not sound as 'big' as some Jumbos. Easy action, easy to play. Records very nicely. Stereo output jacks are a plus. The built in tuner is great as I can tune anywhere regardless of background noise. Quality Grover tuners, moustache bridge, plus many other small details that give this guitar personality.

This is a really great guitar. It has a really fantastic tone. It interfaces beautifully with the Roland GR20 guitar synth. The guitar is very well balanced. I really like it.

The ACS blends a traditional classical approach with modern solid-body touches. The incredibly comfortable neck is joined to a chambered silverleaf maple body and highly figured flamed maple leaf top for stunning looks in this synth access guitar. Although the body is chambered, response from the maple top is more typical of a solid body design than that of a traditional acoustic guitar. This design results in an instrument that is virtually free of feedback, making it easy to use even when the band gets loud. The engine in the ACS-SA includes individual transducer saddles powered by a customized preamp system from the RMCTM Pickup Company. This system not only produces superb amplified sound, but also produces a hexaphonic output through a 13-pin connector enabling direct access to RolandTM GR-Series guitar synthesizers.

Blackstar Venue Series HT Club 40 40W Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black Review

Blackstar Venue Series HT Club 40 40W Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black
Average Reviews:

I purchased this amp about two months ago and waited to do a review. I read many reviews on it and saw that the speaker needs "breaking in" like most amps. Right out of the box the amp sounded great. 2 clean channels and 2 overdrive for just about any tone you are looking for. The ISP knob goes from British to American and numerous tones in between. The more you play the better it sounds. This amp is great for playing at home or small venues without a mic. I would certainly purchase another one if anything ever happened to this one.
One suggestion, if you are not familiar with setting up effects pedals with amps please research. On this amp it has a effect loop in the back so throw the modulation pedals there and your OD,compressor, wah, etc in the front. If you go and try one have your money ready because it is hard to walk away from them without buying.

Equipped with 2 channels and 4 modes the Blackstar HT Club 40 is an ideal gigging tube amp for club-sized venues. The 40W EL34-driven power amplifier has amazing punch and dynamics that will easily cut through in a full band situation. Switching to the amazing overdrive channel—equipped with ISF (Infinite Shape Feature)—accesses two more modes: 'classic crunch' and 'super saturated lead.'The Clean Channel on the Blackstar Venue tube amp has two modes, 'boutique' and 'modern' and its own Tone control provides a wide range of clean tones. The Voice switch reconfigures both the preamplifier voicing and gain structure, and the power amplifier damping, to reproduce either ringing Class A Performance in the 'boutique' mode, or very clean and tight Class AB tones in the 'modern' setting. The Overdrive Channel has its own EQ section and a Voice switch that allows the character of the channel to be changed, providing a wide variety of overdriven tones. The channel is characterized by a tone that's high in gain, but lacks any of the detached top-end 'fizz' often found in similar designs. This is a result of unique preamplifier and power amplifier shaping techniques, which cleans up the overdrive beautifully as the guitar volume is reduced. Even at the most extreme settings, the overdrive channel remains natural sounding. The ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) control is unique to Blackstar Amplification and represents a major step forward in tone shaping flexibility. The Blackstar amplifier's ISF control shifts the response of the three-control tone stack between a US-type response at one end, and at the other a UK-type response. The tube amp provides an infinite number of alternative tone choices in between the two extremes that would be otherwise unavailable. The Blackstar HT Club 40 tube amp also features a completely natural sounding digital reverb, which is outstandingly musical on both clean and crunch tones. A Dark/Bright switch allows the overall reverb characteris

Hofner Icon Series Beatle Bass; Sunburst Review

Out of my 4 other basses, this is my favorite performance bass. It looks good on stage and sound unbelievable through an amp.
When I want to practice it's good to use if I don't have an amp since it's a hollow body. The minor down side is that it feels cheap and fragile, but it doesn't really bother me.
All in all, I love this bass!

Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Maple Fretboard Electric Guitar, Sonic Blue Maple Review

Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Maple Fretboard Electric Guitar, Sonic Blue Maple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this about a week ago. I love the color and finish. Every bit as good as any American Strat I've played. The neck has a gloss finish on it. It doesn't give me any problems, but I can understand why some would want a satin finish on the neck. The frets are clean, smooth, and seem to be level (I haven't noticed buzzing anywhere). Honestly, I wasn't crazy about the Sonic Blue mixed with the ugly "mint" green pickguard and tremolo cover. The greenish hue of the software seems to skew the whole color of the instrument to a greenish blue instead of the "baby blue" that Sonic Blue is supposed to be. The nut is listed as "synthetic bone." It's not very slick and I did notice some pinging while tuning. I'll fix that with a Graph Tech nut.
Now: the sound. In short, it's amazing. I've read other reviews that said the humbuckers are too dark or lack the definition characteristic of a strat. I didn't hear it. Cranked through a mildly-chorused clean tube amp, any of the three HB positions produced the wonderfully bold and gritty sound I've come to expect from a Fender Stratocaster. I did notice a considerable drop in volume when switching to positions 2 and 4, but I just consider it an instant cut/boost switch as much as anything.
The guitar is heavy enough to be sure it's solid wood, but light enough to be manageable for a long set list. I added Schaller straplocks and my 20+ year old fender brown-yellow-black logo strap to give this guitar more of a vintage vibe.
Positives: tight, true-Strat sound with a couple of added db's in positions 1, 3, and 5 for added rock-out value; beautiful finish and feel; good weight and balance (though Fender's been getting that right for 60 years now); a price that begs you to buy this guitar.
Negatives: inferior nut material and setup; ugly choice of pickguard and tremolo cover color (white or aged white would've been better); volume drop in positions 2 and 4 might be disconcerting to some.
Overall: I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a good example of a Strat, but for half the price of Fender's American Standard line.
