Yamaha DGX-530 Keyboard, 88 Full-Sized Lightly Weighted Piano Style Keys Review

Tried this instrument out in the store and could not figure out what the difference was between this one and the 520 I previously reviewed on amazon. Sound qualities, voices, layout, display, and software all seemed identical to me to the 520. Finally, after a direct inquiry to Yamaha, I was told that the only difference between this model and the 520 was that the 530 contained 10 more rhythm sequences.
So, if you're one of those who would use this instrument heavily for recording and composition, and just could never find the right rhythmic background, you can try this one and see if one of their ten extra sequences works for you.
If you're like me, however, who use the keyboard mostly for performance purposes and only occasional composition and recording, it really isn't worth upgrading. If you're diligent enough and have the software (pretty much any layered music recording sequence will do; I happen to use Cakewalk 4), you can make and save your own rhythms anyway on either keyboard.
For a more detailed review of other features this keyboard has, check my review out on the DGX-520...aside from the extra rhythms, it's exactly the same.

Yamaha's DGX530 Portable Grand Piano features 88 piano-style keys with Graded Soft Touch, a matching stand, a sustain pedal, USB storage, backlit LCD displays, notation and lyrics, and plenty more.

Piano-Centric Features The Yamaha Portable Grand, DGX530 has an easy to use panel, a wealth of piano-centric features including 88 piano-style keys, Graded Soft Touch (GST) action with different levels of resistance, and high-resolution stereo piano samples. Included are an attractive matching stand and sustain pedal.
USB Connectivity The DGX530 has 2 USB ports on the back, each with a different use. "USB TO HOST" is plug-and-play connection for recording and playing back MIDI files, as well as transferring data to and from your computer.
"USB TO DEVICE" is for connecting peripheral USB storage devices such as hard drives or portable thumb drives. You can save user songs and settings, or transfer song data downloaded from the Internet to the instrument, where it can be used with the performance assistant and Yamaha Education Suite features.
Lyric, Chord and Notation Display Have you ever played a song and wondered what it would look like as sheet music? The DGX530 can display the score to a song whether it comes from the Internet, the internal selections those you record yourself. Pages scroll automatically when a song is played back--no more page turning! For singers, the screen also displays chords and lyrics to XF compatible songs.
Easy to Use The DGX530 is a breeze to use. Dive right in with convenient tools and features:
Expandable Music Database: Complete keyboard setups by song title. The keyboard selects an appropriate voice for the right hand melody, the correct musical style and the correct tempo. Simply call up a song title and start playing.
One Touch Setting (OTS): Provides you with a recommended voice with effects for each Style. For example, on a jazz style OTS might be piano, for a Latin style it might be acoustic guitar, or for a rock style it might be a guitar with overdrive.
Registration Memory: Set the keyboard up just the way you like and take a digital snapshot for instant recall. Load and save up to 16 Registrations to User memory. The Registration buttons are conveniently located just above the keyboard.
Performance Assistant Technology: Performance assistant technology is a feature from Yamaha that guarantees that you can't play a wrong melody note or chord. Here's how it works. Select a song, press the Performance Assistant button Chord Mode and play the keyboard--any notes you like. Every note you play will fit the music!

Yamaha Education Suite: Helps you learn to play The DGX530 has 30 built-in songs (plus 70 more on the included CD-ROM) for you to learn to play using the Yamaha Education Suite. The songs are separated into left and right hand parts, providing 7 levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary.
Three keyboard lessons for each hand:
Waiting Mode--Stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues.
Your Tempo Mode--Learn to play the correct notes with the correct timing. Song playback tempo will vary to match the speed you are playing at. The song will slow down when you play wrong notes, so you can learn at your own pace.
Minus One Mode--Here's where you can perfect your technique. The song will play at the normal tempo, minus the part you have chosen to play. Play along while listening to the song.

Lesson Grading--Monitors your progress as you practice each lesson and gives you a grade.
Repeat and Learn--The song location will move back four measures from the point at which you pressed the button, and playback will begin after a one measure count-in. This section will repeat allowing you to practice until perfect!
Chord Dictionary--Shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord names on the LCD screen.

6-Track Sequencer With the DGX530, you have the equivalent of a built-in multi-track recorder. Record one or multiple instrument parts at a time and assign each part to a different track. Six tracks are provided to accommodate sophisticated melodies, chord accompaniment and rhythm parts.
Quality Sound The DGX530 sounds as good as it plays. A two-way speaker system with separate woofers and tweeters delivers clear and lifelike instrument voices. Bass Boost ports add deeper low-end impact, and true stereo sound adds spatial depth and realism.
Realistic Sounding Voices The DGX530 comes equipped with 127 panel voices, 12 drum/SFX kits, plus 361 XGlite voices. Dual and Split modes allow you to combine sounds.
Full Keyboard Mode The DGX530 delivers on its piano theme with a special mode of fingering called Full Keyboard Mode. This allows the player to play the keyboard like a piano; for example a chord with the right hand and bass notes with the left. When using the accompaniment feature, the virtual band will follow these chords. Traditional portable keyboards normally require you to chord on the left side of the keyboard, in the bass section, which is foreign to most piano players. The DGX530 is also capable of this mode, for those who prefer it.
Digital Music Notebook Digital Music Notebook is a multimedia Internet service that enables you to preview, purchase, download and print learn-to-play music books and chart-topping sheet music. From scales to chords to your favorite riffs, Digital Music Notebook is jam-packed with all the secrets you need to master your instrument. Add accompaniments, record and mix yourself, sing karaoke with friends, learn new techniques while having a blast--Digital Music Notebook delivers everything you need to bring music alive! And it's included with the DGX530.

Behringer PMP2000 800-Watt 10-Channel Powered Review

hmmm... first you will get more than you will pay for this product imagine the clarity sound of a desent studio sound systems, that is what you will hear on the speaker output... well i connected it with my yamaha pa speaker that is programed to 250watts rms to 500watts peak, and im really amazed and pleased to the sound output on it, althogh i dont think it can really push it to 350 watts at the max. and theres a wattage settings that you can read or see on the manual about 4ohms 8ohms to 16ohm thats why it really cant do the 350watts per channel... i just know by hearing it cause i recognized sounds and loud sound ...i also have a LIVE power mixer for my karaoke system that has 225watts per channel and that, i will say its louder but also every amp has its ups and downs and for the behringer pmp2000 this power mixer is better, imagine the clarity of a bose "acoustimas serries"... imagine that, that is what you can hear on a PA speaker... that is how good the sound that this power amp produced... about the down side its not that loud that i expect from a 350watts amp and the low's are not that deep or excelent, but thats maybe the speaker that i am using but still it has a good base but not to compare to a good powered subwoffer or car subwoffers... i will say its just right... but on my own satisfaction i wanted a better bass effect so i think im adding another sub speaker or just mix it with a powered subwoffer...
about the channels i have only tried 3 inputs like the guitar, mic, and cd or dvd sound out. and also media player like zune and cellphone that has a preamp or headphones out...and that it will really hugs your sound loving fellings...
about the mixing like i said on those three , there is no problem at all it dont distort the sound while you were playing it at the same time... what a very nice power mixer because on what it can do i would say you can pay 500 dollars and you will still win on that product of behringer, not to talk about the 99 different echos effects , flanger, chorus, and a lot more but they sounds close... once you tried the first effect or effect 1 and at your 25-30th effect you'll be lost and wont be remembering the difference the sound effect that you used earlier... anyway if you want a close look of what im taking about... check out my video on youtube about pmp2000. WARNING im not a very good camera man but i think ive shown what everybodies want's to hear and see's about this product... just type okeylang47 on the search tab and search for behringer pmp2000 den click... thank you for reading this review to the end ... happy shopping...

If you need superior stereo sound for small club gigs, churches or speeches, but have to keep the outboard gear to a minimum, the 10-channel PMP2000 can really deliver. This 800-Watt mixer has built-in mic preamps and an FX processor, as well as enough power to drive both mains and monitors, thanks to dual 350-Watt onboard power amps.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo The PMP2000 gives you the choice of 2 x 350-Watt stereo, 2 x 350-Watt dual mono or 800-Watt bridged mono output. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the PMP2000 can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.
Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Nine built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the PMP2000.
Built-in Digital Effects Processor It's also equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor has a footswitch jack for remote on/off.
Changing the Channels The PMP2000 gives you loads of flexibility in accommodating whatever the center of attention happens to be. Channels 1-6 are for mics, bass guitars or other mono instruments. Stereo channels 7-12 are ideal for keyboards. Use the 2TR IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks.
The Ins and Outs REC OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device, so you can finally get to work on that triple-live album you've always dreamed of. The left and right Output 1/4-inch connectors are there just in case you need to connect more amps. Connect your monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MONITOR output.

Fender Rumble 150 Bass Amplifier Review

Fender Rumble 150 Bass Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My daughter was playing electric guitar for some time and now she decided to play bass. Because the regular amp can't hanlde bass guitar well, we did what I think the best way to choose an amp - went to a store and just started trying out different amps they had there.
We started with Rumble 75 and it was ok, but not that great. Than we went through some other amps until we tried that one. Apparently, this one is quite special. It has a combination of a huge 15" speaker, a dedicated horn for the highs and a large cabinet. Apparently, in the bass world, the size really matters. The Rumble 350 can go much louder, but no other amp (well, in similar price range) could deliver the sounds of the 150.
And one more thing. You may think "I don't need that much power cause I have a small place, so let's get something smaller". That logic may work for regular guitar amp, but for the bass you just can't get right sound off the smaller box. So you may never crank up volume to pump out all 150 watts, but you'll still be better off with a bigger amp, it's not about the volume, it just sounds better.
Bottom line is this amp really stands out for the price and fundamentaly it has some better components so you should take a look at this one.

Brace yourself-the Rumble 150 lets you rule stage and studio alike with unrivaled impunity. That's because it pumps 150 watts through a 15" Fender Special Design Speaker and a piezo horn, and you can blend adjusted-to-taste overdrive with pure, clean bass tone for first-rate Fender bass sound. Other useful-in-real-life features include a horn on/off switch, XLR output, four-band active EQ with 'punch" and 'scoop" presets, spring-loaded side handles and removable casters, all in a ported, rugged and easily portable enclosure. DKMG Dinky (Black) Review

Love mine. I have it in the satin black finish, and it really plays fast and smooth. Great for shredding and lead guitar, but very versatile too and cleans up very well also. Powered by two active EMG's, the sound you can get from it is quite amazing, and it is a fairly affordable guitar considering it's caliber. Made in Japan, and over there they produce guitars every bit as good, if not better, than their American counterparts. Would definitely recommend.

Ampeg SVT Micro-VR Bass Head: A Compact Powerhouse Don't be fooled by its diminutive, dare we say "cute", appearance. The Ampeg Micro VR Bass Amp Head is a compact powerhouse fully capable of pumping its 200 watts of genuine Round SoundTM into myriad live and recording situations. This portable, powerful solid-state head in traditional Ampeg drag is a pleasant surprise from the second you lay eyes on it to the moment its indisputable Ampeg tone hits your ears. The Micro-VR head delivers 200W of pure Ampeg tone, in a package that could practically fit in your pocket. This deceptively small head provides the looks of the classic SVT-VR that made the original famous in the 1970's. A balanced direct out, -15dB pad, on-board limiter and dual speaker outs offer tremendous versatility whether on stage, or in the studios. The 1/8" stereo input and output let you easily integrate an MP3 player for practice or recording. Pair it with the companion SVT-210AV cab for a fully gigable, but super micro rig. Great sound, unmatched portability...small wonder, it's an Ampeg.
The Ampeg SVT Legacy

The SVT has become the bass amp that all rock bassists dream of, whether they're famous or completely unknown. Former Bass Player editor Scott Malandrone put the SVT in perspective this way: "The SVT has done for the sound of electric bass what the Marshall Super Lead had done for the electric guitar--it would give the instrument an identity." We couldn't say it better ourselves.

Ampeg Amps: Built to Work HardAmpeg, (a division of Loud Technologies) is recognized world-wide as the premier name in bass and guitar amplification since the 1960's, when the SVT (Super Valve Tone) bass amplifier took the rock world by storm with its 300 watts, 8 x10" speaker cabinet and a tone that would go on to set the standard for rock and roll bass. Today, Ampeg continues on as the leader in professional bass gear and a cherished manufacturer of classic guitar amplifier designs with a continuing tradition of advancing bass tone through quality & innovation.

I'm returning this mixer for the 1604 VLZ3. The CFX 16-mkII is pretty poorly designed. What's with the idea to run the signal through the Sub Mix to get to the main outputs? I don't know what they were thinking. No mono output either. I don't think it has the quality sound of the old 1604's either.

An exquisite bass that combines advanced technology with the finest craftsmanship. Stunningly quilted maple tops its premium alder body. Bartolini pickups with NTMB active EQ serve up the ultimate in tonal range and control. Its neck is a hi-tech marvel, an ultra-rigid D-shaped shell made from dozens of hand-formed layers of aerospace-grade, epoxy-impregnated carbon fibers and fitted with a fast, ultra-smooth phenolic fretboard. The neck's miraculous strength-to-weight ratio and extreme resonance produce a remarkably unclouded, even tone. I picked this up a few months back and I have to say it just gets better with age. I was looking at the Ibanez spalted mango uke and it looked great, it was also much cheaper, but it sounded like a tin can with strings. I think that is because theirs is a laminate. The Lanikai is solid woods all the way around. At first it sounded a little muted, but I kept playing it and the top loosened up and now sounds great. Very mellow not like any of my other ukes. After I bought this one I saw that there is a Spalted Mango Lanikai with electronics and a killer looking headstock. That one is the SM-CE its very cool but I'll probably end up putting a MiSi in this one.
Great uke, oh... by the way dont go by the picture, each one is completely different mine showed up and it had the most killer looking top on it.

Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler Review

Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
first thing, i am no where near a pro with effects and recording equipment, that said, i have a long history with korg, and know from exp they make really good effects and at good prices. this machine is addictive. i want to let potential buyers know what you can do with the kaoss right out of the box, with about 20min w the manual. so it is basically an effects processer, instrument(drum machine and synth) and a sampler(w 4 banks a-d) i have a 400 disc player, and ran the rca through the korg line in, and line out into a 8 track digital recorder. and its just fun. i hit random play, and rarely get past the first 30 seconds of a song. the kaoss makes it very easy to sample any line in, and loops them, you can use up to 4 at a time, and you can save your fav samples on sd cards (2gb max, which you can buy on amazon for 7$,i like kingston) thats just the beginning, once you get a sample or samples, you have a hundred dif effects(phaser, grain, delays, re-verb common effects and sounds in the korg library) so you get a sample, you loop it back and you can manipulate it in a infinite number of ways. it also has bpm, a feature that syncs the beats in the machine to music from the line in, so it does the timing for you, and the beats loop in increments(4,8,16} the touch pad(which is huge) act as the knobs on effects and synths. so the clip its playing changes with every move of your finger. , every time you change the effect it opens a new world of the same sample.
now the drum machine and synth, there could have been more banks here and less effects, but some i imagine would say the opposite. i very much like that it loops seamlessly, and you can change the measures, but not as versatile as traditional drum machines. the touch pad responds very well, though when you tap faster as in a drum roll, it will hold up, but the sound is more in the held position anyway.and its somewhat user friendly, i say that cause i hate manuals, i just like to play, so i have figured out about 20% of this machine, and still i cant help to smile just looking at it. i have been looking into samplers for 15yrs and this is the least expensive, most fun, and easiest to use machine i have ever seen. . i, you can be silly, serious, either way it will impress(it will process anything w rca jacks, so there is no limit, there is allot of rhythm in the most common tv shows, radio programs, even the worst lp has sumthing sweet korg gives one year warranty,
update drum machine and synth work welly well w my microkorg, play one w your right and other with the left hand, ,my guitar through the mic input is really cool, you press hold on the effects, and you can change the sound completely after each riff, not so good w my bass, distorts at low levels

Traveler FlipTone v.25 Battery Powered Combo Amp Review

I bought this to go with the Traveler Guitar, Aucustic version I purchased. Somewaht pricey; but solid consruction, excellent sound and versatilty. When paired with the Traveler Guitar, I have concert hall capability; in a minimalist package. I noticed the Traveler Company seemed no longer to advertise these. I was wondering if the product didn't do well for them across the long haul; but for me; this fits a need; in the portable market. I am glad that i own one of these. This is no doubt Prodessional Level sound and equipment. I particularly like how the design of the speakers, is revolutionary; in being forward and backward; and the nit doubling as a studio /stage monitor! Pricey, but worth it! Sonically this amp is tuned for an acoustic match, without altering it's neutral setting.

Parker Fly Mojo - Natural Mahogany Finish with Deluxe Parker Hardshell Case Review

Parker Fly Mojo - Natural Mahogany Finish with Deluxe Parker Hardshell Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My guitar is the Parker Fly Mojo model in clear coat Honduran Mahogany and with the metal flake brown-bronze back. My comments do not apply to any of Parker's bolt-on neck or foreign made guitars - I have only played two and both were in a different league from a set neck, domestically made Fly.
After the odyssey through Fenders, Gibsons, a Rick, and a Hofner, I have been finding myself using this guitar most of all. You should know that I have not gigged in years, I rarely take a guitar out of the house, and I play daily for my own enjoyment and occasionally with a friend, so my preferences and needs may not be the same as yours.
Some real plusses for me:
1.Truly great craftsmanship. The guitars made since Parker sold out are at least as well made as those before. Fit and finish are second to none.
2.Very versatile array of sounds. The Seymour Duncan humbuckers can replicate so many guitars, and the proprietary piezo-tremolo unit works better than any I have used. The piezo sounds a lot like an acoustic guitar that is equipped with a piezo bridge and it would come in handy for those who only want to schlep one guitar to a gig. Using the stereo cord that comes with the fly, and doing what they suggest, playing the humbuckers through your guitar amp and the piezo through the PA, you get a really nice differentiation of electric and acoustic.
3.The way the carbon fiber fretboard reinforces the neck is great. This guitar stays in tune, even with the tremolo unlocked. The fret board is always smooth when doing extreme bends (I just played my Tele with a one-piece cocobolo neck and noticed the difference right away.) Stainless steel frets are a plus for longer wear and are easy to keep shiny, particularly since they came from the factory without needing any dressing.
4.I like Sperzel tuners a lot and have put them on most of my Fenders. This also contributes to staying in tune.
5.The guitar is light at no more than 5 pounds. With many of the most popular guitars weighing in at twice that weight or more, the difference is very noticeable when grabbing it off the stand by the heck from the coach, for example (I do that a lot), or when standing up with it on for a while. I had though that sustain was greatly influenced by the weight of the guitar as physics suggests it should, but I have come to think that rigidity is a much more significant factor in sustain based on my experience with this Fly.
6.The neck is very thin. I like this for `living-room playing' and it can help my speed in reaching for a fret or jumping around the positions on the neck. When people try the Fly they always remark on the thinness of the neck and how `playable' it is compared to their favorite guitars.
7.Balance is tremendous. That long top bout puts the strap button just where is should be to let you take your hand off the neck without fear of the neck nose-diving towards the floor.
8.Visual appeal. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but even those who do not relish the design have to admit that it is a great piece of sculpture.
On the not-so-plus side:
1.The case. Although this is a guitar review, since the case comes with it I feel that is is fair game. The case is poor quality, poor design, and flimsy. There are two Parker hard shell cases and I am panning the one with the big "Parker" embossed on the front. There is another Parker HSC with a small "Parker" embossed in the lower left corner of the front and I am thinking that I will get one of those. Parker sells the big logo version on their website; the one I am looking for is available from the big music stores for a little over a hundred.
2.The thin neck. Okay, you're right, I listed this as a plus, too, but I find that my hand can get a little cramped-up when playing long and hard. Otherwise, no problem. I take breaks, and besides, my hand cramps-up sometimes when I'm not playing the Parker.
3.Battery. Although it is easy to get to and swap for a new one, and the piezo requires it, and it's expected to last for over a hundred hours, it seems that I am replacing it more frequently than I should have to; maybe I'm inaccurate on this. A second battery holder might be nice. For now, I just keep a spare in the case (yeah, the case I hate.) When considering new guitars for the collection, I tend to shy away from those requiring a battery; I also have become much fonder of hard-tails - I hardly ever use a tremolo anyway.
4.Slide. This is a poor choice to set-up as a slide guitar. For slide use, I favor the old and heavy solid bodies where the neck is thick and the frets aren't so great any more. Also, I don't like to get my slides (I use the big, thick, heavy brass slides) anywhere near a guitar with a finish I want to preserve. They eventually will take a toll.
I really like this guitar and if it disappeared, I would buy another. If you see one in a music shop, by all means, pick it up and try it. You won't pull any muscles in your arm when you lift it!

A solid mahogany body and neck provide warm resonance to the thick, bold tone generated by genuine Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB pickups. It's light in weight but far from a lightweight, churning out creamy, luscious sounds with enhanced lower mids. Famous Fly playability and comfort is combined with simpler knobs and a more ergonomic control layout, easier-to-use vibrato, improved electronics, carbon glass fretboard, Fishman 6-element piezo system, and Sperzel locking tuners.Includes hardshell case.

The EP2000 and EP4000 represent everything musicians love about Behringer's popular EP1500/EP2500--excellent sound quality, road-worthy toughness and reliability, low-noise operation and incredible power. With 2,000 and 4,000-Watts respectively, the EP2000 and EP4000 amplifiers are perfect for medium-sized club gigs, mobile PA systems, church services or public spaces.

Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't The uber-simple front panel controls of these amps give you all of your sound's vital signs at a glance. After flipping the MAIN switch, the POWER LED will light when the amp is ready for action. Both channels have independent gain dials as well as clip LEDs that indicate when the signal is distorted and you need to reduce the gain. There are also SIGNAL LEDs that light up when a signal is present at the input.
Panel Discussion A panel of switches found on the back panel offers an array of cool options to apply to both channels of the EP2000 and EP4000. The Clip Limiter lets you get even more out of the amplifier without overdriving either it or your speaker system. Built-in circuitry automatically senses when the EP2000 or EP4000 is being overdriven into "clipping" and then momentarily reduces the input level to avoid clipping distortion. This all happens in a few thousandths of a second, so it's an inaudible way of avoiding audible clipping distortion. Of course, you can turn the Limiter off if you're feeling lucky.
Ultra-low frequency sounds (infrasonics) are caused by rickety stage vibrations, mic thumps and wind noise. While technically inaudible, they can cause a huge drain on amp power, potential damage to your speakers and a sludgy sound in the audible bass ranges. Both EP models feature a defeatable Low Cut Filter that chops off unwanted frequencies below 50Hz or 30Hz (depending on your PA system's capabilities).
The same panel contains the switches that allow you to put these amps to work in either stereo or bridge (mono) mode. Both the EP2000 and EP4000 can be linked to additional power amps by switching into parallel mode.
These Amps Have Guts There's plenty of awesome features on the outside of the EP2000 and EP4000, but there's also a team of cool components on the inside helping it work its magic. They come loaded with famously reliable Toshiba/Fairchild power transistors as well as a high-current toroidal transformer for ultra-high transient response and further reliability. Independent DC and thermal overload protection on each channel automatically protects the amplifier and speakers from any show-stopping meltdowns. There's no need for fuses, giving you one fewer potential mid-gig headache.
The EP2000 and EP4000 have both XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs. Even the outputs are totally flexible, consisting of Speakon-compatible outputs and five-way binding posts. Whether you're dealing with bare wire or boutique audiophile cabling, the EP2000 and EP4000 are right at home.
The exhaust fan, visible on the back panel, is the final stage of an internal front-to-back cooling system that keeps these amps working in the mild temperatures they love, even through periods of extended use. Finally, an impact-resistant, all-steel 2U rackmount chassis helps these workhorses stand up to all the rigors of the road.
Accelerated Transient Response Delivers the Knock-Out Punch It takes huge pulses of energy (current and voltage) to propel a woofer cone out fast enough to match a bass beat. That's called Transient Response and it's the holy grail of amp designers. By carefully selecting transistors with extremely highslew rates and optimizing other proprietary parts of our circuitry, our amps are able to react instantly to even the most demanding electronic bass impulses. If the woofers in your PA system can keep up, your audience will hear a tighter, crisper, more natural sound.
The Legend Powers On If you read the reviews of the EP2000 and EP4000's older brothers, the EP1500 and EP2500, and it's clear that those amps are renowned not only for their performance and durability, but also their astoundingly low price tags. The EP2000 and EP4000 extend that legacy to the next level.

Peterson V-SAM Virtual Strobe Audio Metronome Review

Peterson V-SAM Virtual Strobe Audio Metronome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am called on to tune harpsichords, and this is often done using unusual temperaments and pitch standards far from A=440Hz. I formerly used the excellent Korg MT-1200, because it could be programmed to any temperament, and because it allowed a very wide range of pitch standards (I often need to tune to A=411, for example). Korg has discontinued the MT-1200, replacing it with the model OT-12, which has most of the same features but is not programmable. When the MT-1200 that I used went bad (its memory chip failed, so it needed to be re-programmed every time I used it, quite a hassle), I went on a search for something else that would do the job.
After consulting with harpsichord players, builders, and other experts, I learned about the Peterson V-SAM. None of my experts had actually used this tuner, but had heard that it was an amazing new device that was great for harpsichords. I called Peterson (for a very long time known as a venerable manufacturer of stroboscopic tuners) and their sales people confirmed that the V-SAM was excellent for this kind of instrument. I let my experts know what Peterson had told me, and so they independently bought V-SAMs at the same time I bought mine.
About a week after I got my V-SAM, I started getting calls from the others. Nobody could make the V-SAM work with harpsichords. It was unstable, and would frequently not even recognize that a note was being played on the instruments. Suspecting a faulty unit or perhaps a faulty manufacturing run, I checked my V-SAM with some wind instruments. It worked fine. Several calls to Peterson tech support revealed that if I simply added an external microphone, the V-SAM would work great on the harpsichord. I tried hand held mics, clip on mics, and suction-cup mics, and nothing helped. The others had similar experiences.
Finally, I was able to talk to engineering at Peterson, and was advised that the V-SAM was never designed to work with instruments like pianos or harpsichords. They said the tuner was intended to be used with instruments that can sustain their tones, like violins and wind instruments.
I have since returned my V-SAM, as have all my associates. I want to stress that this is not really a fault of the unit...Peterson is a good company with a high quality product. The problem is that this design is not suitable with certain instruments that produce transient tones. Unfortunately, Peterson sales and tech support did not know this and led me astray. Likewise, most retailers simply parrot what Peterson says or implies in their sales capacity, and hence the bad information is kept circulating.
In my opinion the V-SAM is a fine product for most applications, but if you want to use it with instruments that produce tones that decay quickly, look elsewhere.

The Peterson V-SAM' presents a combination of programmable Virtual Strobe' tuner, audio tone generator, and metronome in a hand-held format. It marries the revolutionary Virtual Strobe Technology', first introduced in the VS-1 tuner, with a new, brighter, high-contrast display. The high-output tone generator within the V-SAM offers 10 octaves of audible tones, which conform to a selected preset or custom temperament and are adjustable in 0.1 cent increments. This permits ear-training possibilities previously unavailable in a hand-held device.Versatile MetronomeThe V-SAM's audio/visual metronome allows tap or dial-in tempo, adjustable beats per measure, beat subdivisions, and a stopwatch function.Built to be BetterThe V-SAM's "tuner mode" expands upon the Peterson VS-1' with an even wider variety of alternate temperaments and the ability to select temperament tonal roots. In addition, the user can create and store custom temperaments and use them with the same flexibility as preset ones. The V-SAM automatically detects a note being played in real-time and is accurate to 1/1000th of a semitone. It can transpose displayed notes based on any of 12 scale notes.
