Alvarez Acoustic Guitar AD60SCBK Cutaway Dreadnought Top Solid Spruce Back & Side Mahogany Review

Alvarez Acoustic Guitar AD60SCBK Cutaway Dreadnought Top Solid Spruce Back and Side Mahogany
Average Reviews:

This guitar is among one of the best I have played. I was looking at Takamine,Taylors, and Martins. I was looking to spend about 800-900 dollars for a good guitar. With the big three models, I did not see the kind of sound I wanted. One of my friends at a local shop told me about it. The sound of this guitar is so bright, you dont get the heavy buzz off the low "E" string. The natural finsh that I have has stayed pure and clean. The neck is thinner for better playability, and I cannot seem to put this guitar down. If you are in the market for a Good Guitar that plays better than it costs , get it!
It's sound really rivals the others. Alvarez has put through one of their best midline products I have seen in years. It works for when I play venues or at home. I am sold on Alvarez products for life!

This pedal is just want I was looking for. I went through about 5 chorus pedals before I found happiness with the Empress. I usually use it with all the knobs straight which gives a basic but lush chorus but not where you hear the wabble effect, it just adds greatness to your tone... it's hard to turn this off once you turn it one. You can tweak the knobs and start getting some crazy effects. Worth the money because it'll be the last chorus pedal you'll ever need!

Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic Black Review

Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic Black
Average Reviews:

Don't buy this guitar. Unless you want to be blown away by it's sheer beauty, tone, lightness, and slick playability. When I first took it out of the box all I wanted to do was stare for a long period of time. It's magnificent. And when I played it I was not disappointed. I want more. I want it in white with black binding and another copy of this one for backup. This guitar is my baby. I cant believe its this cheap. Must be a typo.. lol. Actually I take that back. Must be a DEAN!
(p.s. I was actually sorta serious when I said don't buy this guitar because I'm selfish and there are limited quantities and I want them for myself but what the heck. Buy it. Love it. ROck out.

The Dean '79 Series Z is built to the original specs of the 1979 Deans, boasting a mahogany body with maple top, a set mahogany neck, a pair of Dean zebra humbuckers, Grover tuning machines, and a Tune-o-Matic bridge. Get the vintage tone without the vintage wear and tear, and forget about that boutique price tag.

The Dean '79 Series1979 was a great time for Dean Guitars. Some of Rocks' greatest players played Dean to include: Kansas, ZZ Top, Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Triumph,The Cars, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard--the list goes on.

Dean Guitars builds these beauties to the original specs of the original 1979 Deans, which are now collectibles on the open market. The '79 series uses the Series 2 headstock, larger than the time capsule, and has the same look and feel as their predecessors of the seventies.

The '79 series is available in finishes originally offered in the 1979 Dean catalog, including: Cherry Sunburst, Braziliaburst, and Black with white binding--and the prices are just as striking.

Mahogany Body with Maple TopAs with the original models, Dean uses a mahogany body for its contemporary '79s.Mahogany is a common choice for electrics, dependably delivering a warm, full tone with plenty of punch and sustain. The maple top focuses the mahogany tone, imparting clarity to your notes/chords, and a little extra high-end bite.

Set Neck ConstructionThe '79 ML features a set mahogany neck, which imparts all the well-known advantages of that style: a warmer overall tone with extended low-end response, wicked sustain, and easy upper-fret access (enhanced even further by the '79s cutaways). The 24-3/4-inch scale neck features a rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker PickupsTo capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover TunersIf you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service. Tune-o-Matic BridgeThe '79's Tune-o-Matic bridgewith string-thru body design provides even more sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

Breedlove Alpine OF Master Class Mandolin, Made in U.S.A. Review

Breedlove Alpine OF Master Class Mandolin, Made in U.S.A.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Howdy folks. Nice to see you can buy one of these top-end mandolins off Amazon these days, but I do have some extended comments:
I'm a professional economist and a mandolin player of over 20 years' experience.
Lemme talk about economics first. There's something in microeconomics called "price discrimination." This means that producers use sneaky means to find out which of their customers might be willing to pay a higher price for essentially the same good, so that they can charge those guys more.
A good example of this would be the difference between the home version of Windows and the professional version. I think there's very few people who could state how exactly the professional version differs from the standard home version, but still, when you've got money to spend and you're setting up your new computer, you wanna buy "the best."
Now let's talk about Breedlove mandos.
Breedlove is widely regarded as the best American-based manufacturer of mandolins currently in mass production. They're fine instruments, of that there is no doubt.
But the question at hand is whether one should one plop down thousands for their higher-end, "Master Class" models (such as the one on this page, the Breedlove Alpine), or whether the Breedlove Quartz OF Mandolin, Made in U.S.A., for example, is enough for you? Nobody wants to spend a ton of money unnecessarily, even if you are loaded.
Now, I had been aching to play a Breedlove Alpine ever since reading the supremely mando-knowledgeable "Mickey" at Folk of the Wood (in New Mexico) declare it to be the best mandolin currently being produced (in a post I cannot currently locate).
But worried about paying too much for a difference that really wouldn't be worth it, I emailed the company with my question. I wanted to know what justified the huge difference in price between their lower-end but still excellent models, and their higher-end models.
I wrote: "I've had my eye on a Breedlove for some time now. But there's something I'd like a straight answer on. Breedlove has what they call a "Master Class" of mandolin, such as their Alpine. I've been wanting a really nice mandolin, but didn't buy an Alpine because I want to avoid the bright tone of the f-models. I need something a little more full and haunting for Celtic music. Anyhow . . . what I don't understand is what exactly is meant by "Master Class." Is that just a bunch of fancy gold trimmings and stuff on the headstock, or is there a significant difference in the wood, the finishing, the playability, etc. of the instrument? I'm looking for a comfortable, playable instrument but don't really care what it looks like as there's certainly no one out here to watch me play. So is Breedlove's "Master Class" just a cosmetic thing?"
This is from their snarky reply: "The finest woods, appointments and attention to detail goes into our Master Class models. IE: out of 500 pieces of wood we might find 50 that will make it to a Quartz Series Mandolin. Of that 50, only 2 or 3 will be Master Class Quality. Does that make sense to you?"
I was not satisfied with this reply, as I don't believe the phrase "the finest woods" can quite justify four grand (or whatever). But I remained determined to own a Breedlove.
Months passed. Then, one August, I found myself in a mandolin speciality store that I learned had a Breedlove as well as one of their "lesser" models -- a Quartz KO.
Wrapping a bandana over my head, I took the Pepsi challenge. I had a friend bring me both mandolins, which I played blindfolded for about 15 minutes, not knowing which was which. The point was to see if I could tell the difference from the sound alone.
Folks, for the life of me, I was not able to tell the difference. Remember I've been playing for a couple of decades.
Sure, when I took the blindfold off, the Alpine immediately struck me as more visually elegant, but in terms of the sound, I was not able to discern a difference in timbre, tone, resonance, clarity, etc. Admittedly, once the blindfold was off, the Alpine suddenly "sounded" better, but I had demonstrated this was just my mind playing tricks with me.
I know they say when you're buying an instrument you should splurge for the best you can afford.
But I am the proud and happy owner of one of their "lesser" jobs: the Quartz. It's all I need.

Cordoba C7-CE Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar, SP/IN Review

Cordoba C7-CE Acoustic Electric Classical Guitar, SP/IN
Average Reviews:

Just receive my guitar 2 days ago. Packing was intact. First noticeable thing was the guitars weight which is very light compared to my other classical guitar. This C7-CE is the Solid European Spruce Top model and I would rate the sound wise 8/10 unplug. Sound is crystal clear and bass is tight. I would say its balance across the strings. Unlike my other Esteve Classical guitar which have more deeper bass.
Plugged-in performance is perfect, the Fishman Presys Blend Pickup System behaved well when plugged in to my church PA. My church hall sits approx 1200 people and even at high volumes the pickup manages to handle flawlessly. Setup was low out of the box but doesn't buzz when strummed hard. 50 mm nut width was nice not too big and not to small as compared to crossover guitars. I've tried a 1 7/8" width crossover guitars and I find it to narrow for my liking !!)
This guitar might not be as good as some of the other high end classicals out there. But for the money you save, I'm sure you'll be just as happy as I am.

Ok well the shipping is excellent with this amp, it came in two days which was awesome.
there are so many presets on this amp i haven't even been through them all yet, it does have an awesome saving feature though so when you find you right tones you hold down the channel button u want it on and it saves the sound which was handy to have, and when you save them you can also rename them which was cool, i use it at my band practices and it sounds decent and it can get very loud, i see no reason it ever has to go past ways, other wise you will rock the house, but when it's loud it doesn't sound as good. i havent used it in any gigs yet but i cant wait to try it.

AXL Bloodsport FireAx Electric Guitar, Red/Black Review

AXL Bloodsport FireAx Electric Guitar, Red/Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't own this guitar (yet) but I did have a chance to test drive it recently, and was astounded at the quality given the low price point (the same can be said of several other AXLs I tried out). This is an original radical design, so people are either going to love that or hate it. If you're into the wild pointy guitar thing, read on. If not, check out some of the more standard designs from AXL. The fit finish on the guitar is pretty darn good. While not up to the extreme standards of a hand made USA hand-made$1000+ guitar, the fretwork is clean the joints are good, and in general the workmanship is better than I've found on most other guitars in this price range. The pickups are EMG designed, and they sound and respond like you'd expect from and EMG design with high output, thick rich tone and plenty of sustain. I liked the configuration with Humbuckers in the neck and bridge and a single coil in the middle as it gives the axe a lot of versatility in tone. The hardware is solid with smooth working tuners, and great trem bridge, but it's not real nice and fancy. It works for this guitar anyway. Played through a tube amp on high gain, this thing just screamed. The neck was not as fast as some I've played, but I thought it was pretty good (again for the price point). I seriously doubt you can find a guitar a suitable for the Metal as this one is at a better price.

This is an affordable alternative to the Dean 255 razorback.
Maple neck, basswood body, stock humbucker pick ups and
Floyd Rose double locking tremlo.
This has the radical looking headstock that we have come to love
from the Dean himself. Nice sharp looking body with a nice
black and silver out lined paint job.
I would suggest this guitar for the not so deep pocketed
musician. Around $550.00 new with a soft case.
The only thing that could make this guitar a five star would be
Emg Pick ups and a mahogany body, but hell for the price,
this guitar plays just fine!
If you want the EMG pick ups and the mahogany body, look at
the Dean 255 razorback v which runs about $600.00 more.

Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT QI Guitar Review

Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT QI Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had the Seagull S6 Burst Q1 for a few weeks now and it's a beauty of a guitar. I received it in perfect condition from Amazon, not a ding to be found, and the action was set up quite nicely out of the box. The onboard electronics, though simple and somewhat limited in terms of control, sound really nice to me. However, I play the guitar through a Fender electric amp (Blues Jr.) so I may not be as qualified a judge of sound as someone with a dedicated acoustic set-up.
The guitar sounds fantastic acoustically as well. The cedar produces a nice warm sound, and though not as loud or "boomy" as a spruce top, there is a fullness of tone to this guitar that I have rarely (if ever) found in the sub $1000 price range. It plays well and I haven't had any issues with the tuners. The onboard electronic tuner is accurate and easy to use.
It's worth mentioning that the guitar I received from Amazon looks QUITE different from the photo pictured. The pickguard is tortoise (not black) and the wood burst is more of a brown/light brown color rather than the black/orange stock photo. I'm not sure if there's just a lot of variance with how these models look or if Amazon (and every other online seller of this guitar) has an outdated picture. I'll post some photos of my guitar on Amazon when I get the chance.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the guitar. For the price I paid I feel like I got an amazing deal, but it doesn't do the guitar justice to say that it's a great guitar "for the money." It's a great guitar, period.

I use D'Addario 9-42's and love the way it plays and sounds. The pickups are not noisy, the hardware is not cheap, and the finish is excellent. Had to tighten a few screws initially but overall is was a great buy. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a low-cost Telecaster.
