Cort RS2 Concert Acoustic Guitar, Pale Blue Review

Cort RS2 Concert Acoustic Guitar, Pale Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this for my 14 year old daughter who currently has an electric guitar and wanted an acoustic for a more mellow sound. She needed something close in size and this is perfect for a younger guitarist. It is not a small guitar but smaller than a jumbo or dreadnaught. It is even more beautiful in person and is solid top and the bag is a great tan color and very well made! I was going to buy a Takamine for her, but this was cheaper and made of solid wood, not laminated spruce. I paid $195 and that is a STEAL!! Cort makes guitars for fender, Ibanez and many other "top" brands, so I went straight to them and got a better guitar for my money. You cant go wrong with this guitar~

SKB Injection molded Strat/TeleFlight Case - TSA Latches, w/wheels Review

SKB Injection molded Strat/TeleFlight Case - TSA Latches, w/wheels
Average Reviews:

This case would survive a fall from ORBIT! Seriously, this is a well built case designed to carry Fender Strat style guitars under most any traveling conditions. I was impressed with all of the built-in features. This is the most rugged travel case I could find on the internet without being constructed of solid metal or weighing a ridiculous amount. The description is spot-on. Even the wheels are bolted on to prevent loss or breakage. The small accessory pocket holds my electronic metronome, electronic tuner, 2 sets of strings, string winder and strap with room to spare. The hinged lid on the accessory compartment could use a small strap with velcro to keep it closed, but it's of small concern considering the fit and finish of the overall case. My Cort M200 fits with extra room in the head area. The neck isn't supported the entire length, but two layers of bubble wrap fit the bill and the strings still aren't tight against the lid. The price is a bit on the high end. In the future, I might consider looking into a tactical weapon case, at a lower price, in the same dimensions, to save some money. Overall, I would recommend this case, as the best protection for traveling with a high-end guitar.

Ovation Celebrity CC245 12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar, Honey Burst Review

Ovation Celebrity CC245 12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar, Honey Burst
Average Reviews:

I love this guitar -- I purchased one of these Ovation Celebrity 12-strings about a year and a half ago. I also have an electric solid body guitar and a small 6-string acoustic, but this is the one with the most beautiful voice. It's just on a different plain from six string guitars, much like hearing a singing duet harmonizing. A concern I had before I bought it was tuning. How was I going to make sure all those strings were in tune, and, wasn't the tuning situation for 12-strings different? Not to worry, this thing has a built in electronic tuner. You just pop in a battery, push a button, and then whenever you hit a string, the device gives you the note you're closest to, as well as an arrow showing whether you're too high or too low. You just adjust the tension of the string accordingly. I would recommend getting Ovation's hard body case. It's an additional cost, and it's not cheap, but it gives you so much protection. There are "gig bags" as they call them that can be purchased for this, but they're pretty flimsy. This guitar, like all Ovations, looks unusual, although you cannot see it in the photo, you'd need a side shot for that. The bodies are made of a special high-tech plastic and the guitars have a rounded bottom, much different from other guitars. But there's a reason for that: It's an ideal shape, but not something you could easily accomplish with wood. When you hear "plastic," don't think that means they're cheaply made. Not so; this is a fine quality instrument. And when you hear the wonderful tone, you wonder how they could sell them for such a relatively low price. Perhaps the only drawback is that it has such a full-bodied sound -- as do most all 12-strings -- it may not be a good idea for those living in apartments or condos, unless you're very discreet in your playing.

Epiphone ES-175 Archtop Electric Guitar, Reissue, Vintage Sunburst Review

Epiphone ES-175 Archtop Electric Guitar, Reissue, Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After owning a few budget ES-175-style guitars (such as the Ibanez Artcore series), I was skeptical that Epi's new offering could bring the ES-175 playability and tone at this price point. I bought one yesterday after playing a few in a showroom - this guitar ROCKS, and beats the price of imitators. I don't know how they can offer this guitar at this price.
I do suggest you go into a showroom and ask to play several of them; the wood pattern & quality of the top and back varied widely from guitar to guitar. I played a few acoustically until I gravitated towards one that had a sweeter midrange than the others, and overall sounded more "open" and "woody" than others, some of which sounded rather dull.
If you are interested in an ES-175 style guitar, now there's no reason to buy an imitation. At this quality, I'd imagine that someone who owns a vintage Gibson ES175 (which may cost more than many people's cars) and doesn't want to take it to gigs would be happy to use this axe as a more than worthy bullpen guitar.

Jay Turser Resonator Guitars jt-900res-cs Acoustic-electric Guitar, Cherry Sunburst Review

Jay Turser Resonator Guitars jt-900res-cs Acoustic-electric Guitar, Cherry Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since Amazon doesn't give many details, here are a few:
Most importantly, this guitar has a spider cone (like a Dobro), not a biscuit cone (like a National). The wood is heavy plywood on the top, and feels heavy all around. The back and sides have a mahogany looking grain, altho they're probably one of those many tropical lookalikes. The back is arched! The tone is fairly mellow, as would be expected.
It's made in China, for what it's worth. Not necessarily a bad thing, in my experience. But don't expect National/Dobro/Taylor/Martin tone and quality, of course. It's an inexpensive (but not "cheap") guitar.
The two pickups have VERY different characters and relative volume, and the infinite blend control gives the player many options for sound. The other two controls are standard volume and tone, which affect both pickups. Sounds fine when not plugged in.
The finish is a very thick heavy plastic (urethane?) much more like an electric guitar than an acoustic. The cherry red sunburst is pretty good looking to my eyes. Not as garish as it appears on the computer-- more dark red, less orange.
The fretboard appears to be rosewood. It has nice (plastic?) binding, and the frets are well finished. The neck has an adjustable truss rod. The neck is 1 11/16", but for some reason they installed a 1 5/8" nut with very narrow string spacing. I've noticed a lot of Chinese guitars are coming with abnormally narrow string spacing these days. I immediately replaced mine with a Tusq nut. One other oddity is that it's a 14 fret neck, BUT the 14th fret is not at the juncture with the body but slightly overlapping. I guess that makes it a 13 7/8 fret neck! It's noticeable when you're playing up there.
The general fit and finish is excellent, altho mine was (and still is) missing one tiny chromed screw attaching the resonator cover to the body (there are 12). The cutouts for the f-holes are raw, unsanded and sloppily finished, and there are some shreds of wood visible on the inside of the holes. Not a big deal, but a noticeable detail. The holes, however, are precisely cut by computer, so they look fine unless you look at them closely. The tuning machines are decent.
The neck was straight and the action very low. It came with light or extra light nickel strings. Played fast. I installed medium/heavy nickel strings which brought up the action a little. Feels better for bottleneck now, but it was set up great for shredding right out of the box. The heavier strings put a slight bow into the neck, but it's ok for the way I play, and can be corrected with the truss rod.
All in all, I am tickled with this guitar, especially since Amazon sold it to me for only [...] with free shipping, and it was in stock. I see that the price has now increased to [...], so it's no longer as much of a steal, but still a good value. All in all it's a more than decent low end acoustic-electric resonator guitar.

Blueridge BR-160 Historic Dreadnaught Guitar Review

Blueridge BR-160 Historic Dreadnaught Guitar
Average Reviews:

You will find it hard to find a bad review on any website about this guitar. The rosewood body of the Blueridge brings the sound so very close to a Martin. It comes down to biting the bullet and spending $1800 on a Martin or buying this great guitar. The bass is remarkable for those G-runs. Blueridge is a part of the Saga company which is making some awesome instruments overseas that are actually quality made. Saga also makes Cremona violins that I noticed are getting great reviews for their quality and price. They must be doing something right over there in their Chinese plant. I paid $535 on Amazon for my BR-160 two months ago so take notice their prices fluctuate very often. I couldn't tell were it actually came from as far as who supplies Amazon but it came in perfect condition and that is all that matters. Go to YouTube to see Paul Macartney of the Beatles playing a BR-160. Type in "free meat monday",that's the name of the song.

"I normally don't write product reviews, but I absolutely love my Cordoba La Playa Traveler. It's gone with me all over the world and because of its convenient size and light weight, I was able to carry it on many flights and squeeze it on multiple road trips. I also have a big baby Taylor at home but I find that the softer nylon string sound is more compatible to playing and song writing on the road. It's perfect for strumming in a quiet hotel room, but when amplified through the battery-operated amp (included...where else do you get that?!), the sound can carry even on a windy beach. I have also gotten a lot of comments from both friends and strangers about the gig bag that comes with the guitar. It's durable - the tarpaulin fabric is the same fabric used to the line surfboard covers - and it just looks cooler than the run of the mill gig bag. If you're on the fence about this one you should definitely give a shot. You won't regret it!"

The mayhem starts here! There's no better way to start playing a BC Rich than with the Red Bevel Warlock and the red "Insinerator" amplifier combo. Wicked tones all in one package.

Bolt-on ConstructionA number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic Bolt-on construction. On these instruments a neck (typically maple) is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.
B.C. Rich BDSM PickupsB.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).
Beveled TopMost of B.C. Rich body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.
"Insinerator" Amp IncludedGet started right away with the included 10-watt B.C. Rich "Insinerator" amp, which is perfect for practicing. With red tolex to match your Warlock, it provides two channels through an eight-inch speaker. Dial it in with volume, tone and drive controls.

This guitar is on the cheap side for Taylor Guitar but without compromising the sound quality and the playability characteristic of Taylor's!
I went to Guitar Center to test-drive many of the guitars there and guitars twice the price of this one sound pretty much the same.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Taylor Guitars 110ce, Dreadnought, Solid Sitka Spruce, Sapele Back/Sides, Cutaway, ES-T

Addition by subtraction. A cutaway adds upper range to Taylor's most affordable full-size Dreadnought, while the ES-T pickup primes you for plugging in.

The Taylor 100 Series Tone and playability are hallmarks of Taylor guitars, and you'll find the 100 Series delivers plenty of each. Sporting a solid Sitka spruce top and sapele laminate back and sides, the redesigned 100 Series now features both Dreadnought and Grand Auditorium shapes, along with cutaway and Taylor electronics options. Value, yes. Compromise, no.
Sitka Spruce Top Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for our soundboards, but for our internal bracing, as well. Sitka produces a slightly brighter tone than does Engelmann.
Sapele Laminate Back/SidesThis exceptional, mahogany-like wood grows throughout the tropical rain forests of Nigeria and the Ivory Coast of Africa. Ever since we introduced it in 1998, its legion of fans has grown exponentially. As a tonewood, it's denser and harder than mahogany, so it has a crisper, clearer, brighter, "pop"-ier sound than its more familiar counterpart. Loud and robust, with a lovely ribboned grain, sapele has been used by Spanish guitar makers for many years.
Varnish FinishA durable varnish finish offers protection, good looks, and a smooth feel to the touch. The spruce top's beauty shines right through.
Dreadnought Body ShapeThe original Dreadnought acoustic guitar appeared early in the 20th Century, and its no-frills, no-nonsense shape made it a logical namesake of the huge battleships of that day. Most subsequent Dreadnoughts, including Taylor's, have been derivative of that early design. In 1997, however, Bob Taylor re-designed the Taylor Dreadnought by softening the curves at the top and bottom and generally refining its overall shape. In 2003, gloss-finish Dreadnoughts also underwent bracing refinements that substantially increased their overall volume and bass response, without sacrificing Taylor's signature balance and clarity. Dreadnought six-strings shine as "plectrum" or "rhythm" guitars because they respond well to flatpicking or light-to-heavy strumming.
Venetian CutawayThe cutaway allows access to the upper frets. Many players moving to acoustic guitars grew accustomed to the cutaways on their electric guitars. Others simply like the freedom of movement into the upper register that a cutaway allows. Nowadays, cutaways are favored as much for their decorative appeal as for their function. The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the guitar. Grand Concerts and Grand Auditoriums have a steeper slope, while Dreadnoughts and Jumbos are a bit flatter.
ES-T Pickup Inspired by Taylor's Expression System technology, the Expression System Transducer, or ES-T, is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. (The ES-T was originally called the ES Element, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with another product.) The ES-T has an onboard preamp and the same active controls found on the full Expression System. Featuring a custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response, the system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator (which is lit when the battery is being used). The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole.
Chrome-Plate Tuners Taylor Tuners continue the industry-leading 18:1 gear ratio that they've been using, yet yield even greater precision with the help of a manufacturing process that employs the same gear-cutting machines used by Swiss watchmakers. The more precisely-machined gears virtually eliminate the slight "slop", or slack, typical among tuners, which makes it even easier for Taylor owners to get--and stay--in tune. Taylor Tuners also feature an elegant aesthetic touch, with the Taylor logo cleanly etched on the back.

Epiphone Lefty Sheraton II Archtop Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst Review

Epiphone Lefty Sheraton II Archtop Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
NOTE: I purchased this product through a local guitar shop, so this review in no way speaks of the quality of delivery or customer service you would obtain ordering through this website.
A few weeks ago, I sold my Fender American Deluxe Strat. I wanted to replace it with something a little newer with a similar style. My other guitar is an Epiphone LP Standard with a gritty tone and great sustain that spends most of its time in Drop-C, so this guitar will mainly stay in standard/Drop-D tuning. My musical styles range from contemporary Christian/worship (Hillsong, Tomlin, etc.) to hardcore/metal (A7X, Atreyu, As I Lay Dying), so my guitars need to be diverse in their playstyles.
When I first got the guitar home, I noticed it was much taller than my Epi Standard. I had read online that it was heavy compared with guitars of a similar composition, but I'm used to solid-bodies, so it was actually very light despite the greater length. Reviews I've read say that it would be heavy to hold for a performance, but I disagree. If you're used to a solid body, it's very light and comfortable.
But I know that what everyone cares about is playability, so here goes. The first thing I noticed is the clean, beautiful tone that it produces even when unplugged. It's not a replacement for an acoustic by any means, but it's definitely worthy of being played unplugged for practice. Amped with clean settings, it has a very warm tone and produces a stronger output than either my Epi or the Fender with Noiseless pickups.
As for distorted/metal settings, it still has a strong, thick tone, thanks largely to the dual humbuckers which I find to be entirely adequate for all playstyles. It doesn't have great resonance and pinch harmonics are very finicky (read: difficult) with it, but it has good sustain for a semi-hollow body, and is definitely playable for a heavier style of music.
Overall, I have no complaints about this guitar. The strap attaches on the back of the body, which I'm not used to, but is comfortable after a minute or two of adjusting. For the money, this guitar absolutely shines, and for lefties, it's one of the few well-priced, well-equipped machines out there.

If you are a huge Megadeth fan this guitar is a BIG peace of art, the neck is very confortable and it isn't heavy as a les paul which makes it a great guitar for hours of practicing and playing.
The pick ups have a strong output signal with a great Mustaine tone, and the deluxe hard case for this guitar brings a good protection for the instrument.

For a buget of under $300 it is the best looking and sounding accoustic/electric. I found this one after looking in several stores. I will be going back to the store owner for the case (which he neglected to tell me comes with it!).
