(More customer reviews)I just tried one of these in Hawaii, although they're made in China and imported through California. The maple body (combined with a solid spruce top) gives an unusually delicate tone. The notes flutter by, a bit like a harpsichord's.
As in the usual trade-off between maple versus mahogany tonewoods, you sacrifice a bit of punch in the lower range. But in exchange, you get an unusually shimmering tone.
